The dealer told me that I could play DVD as long the car is parked.

However, I couldn't play any DVD at all. What is the problem?

Are you refering to DVD movies or DVD-audio. In order to play dvd movies you need a separate dvd player. and yes you can watch dvd movies with the car in drive(do not recommend).

And one expensive installation. Thats the only thing holding me back trying to hook up a dvd player into my car.

Yes, playing a DVD movie is possible as an aftermarket modification.

There are some threads here about DOMs unit that some AZ members installed so they could play video DVDs.

If you put the dvd in the deck where you put your audio cd, its not going to work.
The actually dvd player is in your trunk to the side. Try that

:shakehead The TL will not play DVD-Video straight from the factory. The car in the showroom most likely has an aftermarket DVD player installed in the glove box. Yes, the sales guy lied to you.

You can add DVD-Video support by buying a video interface, DVD player, and possibly an audio-interface (for pre-'07 TLers). This is all outlined in the 3G TL Audio & Electronics FAQ. Please search before posting.

I found a site that offers the only aftermarket kit for your 2004-2006 Acura TL to ADD rear camera input and or another source of video dvd or multiple inputs,,, it doesnot interfer with the navi functions,,, check it out,,, maybe they had that installed at the dealership,,,,,

:shakehead I should have closed this thread last night.

Nothing more to see here. For anyone interested in getting DVD to play in their car, please go through the 3G TL Audio & Electronics FAQ and look for AVElectronics or (the more popular) Dom's TVandNav2Go.
