Create Your Own Voice Ringtones - "You Have An Incoming Call"
(Repost as it must have gotten lost in the shuffle.....a great free site that allows you to take full advantage of custom ringtones by typing in your own text and outputting an audio file that you can email to your v710 and assign to your phonebook entries. Try it!)
Really cool site that allows you to type in text, choose a voice, and save the file to your hard drive.
http://www.research.att.com/projects/tts/demo.html
Copy / paste the examples (below) in the box, choose 'show the file', and save to your hard drive. Convert from WAV to MP3 and then rename to MID. Then send it to yourself via email as a ringtone:
James, you have an incoming call. James, you have an incoming call. James, you have an incoming call. James, you have an incoming call. James, you have an incoming call. James, you have an incoming call. James, you have an incoming call.
With custom tones per caller, you can also create:
You have a new text message.
Or, have some fun:
James, your boss is calling. Don't be afraid. It's going to be okay. Pick it up. Steve means you no harm. You can trust me. Just pick it up. Steve has good news. Really, he does. Well, its likely, but not definite. Relax.
Enjoy!

1. Go to Verizon's website and register for the vzwpix service (it's free).
2. Go to the URL listed above and make a few voice ringtones. Save them as the default WAV files.
3. Use MusicMatch to convert the WAV files to MP3's at 28kbps (tiny) size.
4. Launch Outlook Express, AOL, or any other email software and email the files (one file per email) to the email address that sends attachments to your phone which is:
xxxxxxxxxx@vzwpix.com (where the 'x's are your 10 digit phone number, no spaces).
5. In a few minutes, you'll receive an incoming text message with an attachment.
Save the attachment to the phone, point it to the incoming person in your phonebook, and you're all set. I've made about 30 of them so I can hear the name of the person calling without looking at the phone. Cost of each is $0.25 cents which is the cost of receiving an attachment on a Verizon email.

Ok, I've tried the above procedure and no dice. Whenever I send the file to my phone, it shows up on the phone and says "you have a picture....etc...and go to vzwpix.com to view it." I've tried using "save object" on the phone but it says there is no object to save. So what's the secret to getting the actual MP3 file on the phone so it can be used as a ringtone? Thanks again for the tips.

Haven't figured out what to type for the stripper I'm banging. Wouldn't want anyone to catch on.
