It's been done. Search for "carputer" installs. Basically the non nav screen gets moved down to were the two compartments are and an aftermarket LCD is mounted there instead.

Just search for the related threads. They've listed prices. I believe it was around $1K-$2K; nothing more than $2K.

Heres a good thread for you: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...light=carputer

Another carputer thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...light=carputer

An alternative to the carputer is this aftermarket head unit:

jlui83,

Like datmrman said...it will cost about 1k-2k and ALOT of labor to do the job. Just my opinion, if you just shouldered the cost and got the NAVI with the car, then the dvd conversion will be about 5-700 dollars more. This will save you the headache of mounting the aftermarket screen and carputer, and you'll get all of the features of the OEM navigation integrated into the vehicle. Plus if you needed warranty service, it's much easier to remove the dvd conversion unit than it is the carputer! Just my opinion...

send a PM to lilvinnyb.. he has a nice setup that does not have a flip up screen... he took out the stock head unit and replaced it with a double din touchscreen headunit where the entire thing just sits inthe stock location. His installer cut a frame around it to cover the extra space. Easily done, I have seen two or three like this and it might be cheaper than a full blown carpc
