Computer touch screen control
Does anyone know how this was done?

Looks like they utilize the touch screen and have a nice user interface? Anyone have any input on this or know how to proceed?

If you look right below the Tape player, you will notice an extra deck which also is a DVD player obviously all integrated with the NAV screen. Remember you can play DVD videos through your NAV screen with aftermarket products. This guy went beyond that.

Try to find him on www.mp3car.com, maybe he might be there.

By looking at the Lamborghini pics in the Gallery, I'm guessing its not Touch Screen at all. Its probably just wired into the back of the Navi Screen and then everything is controlled by a Keyboard or Mouse or something.

This was the reply I got from the guy at Navvision:
Hello,
I don’t try to use touch function on Acura, but sound of idea very simple. Put touch panel on the screen and connect to you PC. When I have customer who want this option I post picture.
With regards,

I think the Navvision people are simply installers who put this into a customers car and then took pictures and posted. It sounds like the touch screen was no used though. If you wanted this done with touch screen, I'm guessing that the installer would either have to
A. Find the wires that send the touch screen input back to the computer, then piggyback off of them (if the screen is compatible with whatever computer setup you are using for media engine)
B. Remove the screen and install a compatible third-party touch screen. This would probably mean that the acura nav and audio touch screen controls would no longer work after the install.
I'm guessing A would be the best option, since you retain the ability to use your Nav system. However, this would probably mean not only piggybacking off of the touch screen signal, but having drivers on the computer that could handle the touch screen. You would probably also need a switch to switch between the touch screen on the nav system and the touch screen on the media engine computer. Alot of work, but not entirely impossible, I'm sure. If someone with some engineering experience and/or programming experience wants to tackle this, you could probably make some good cash off of the resulting product.

I bet you anything all they did was use an avelectronic unit and have the tv-out from the computer input to the stock navi screen. This is not that great because the image quality is really bad as opposed to a vga touchscreen like the one xenarc sells. And I doubt there is any touch capability unless he has a touchscreen overlay on top of the navi unit. For those who are curious, the software he is running is mediaengine www.mediaengine.org which is just a frontend app to play mp3, movies, integrate gps programs, dvd playing programs, etc etc...
