Compustar Alarm Install - Whats Needed

Hi everyone,

I am interested in getting an alarm before the winter hits (auto start!), and have read a few installs on here. Just wanted some confirmation to make sure I'm on the right track.

Looking at installing either the FR-P2WSS or the P2W9000-SS. For autostart, I need a transponder bypass module like the PKH34. Is this the best/most used or are their others I should be looking at?

And for ease of install, I'm looking at the XK01? Is it basically like Idatalink?

I am getting this professionally installed, but like to have some idea of how and what's involved.
Thanks in advance!

The PKH34 and XK01 both work on TLs. I don't know if the XK01 gives you driver 1/2 memory settings via the Compustar remote (I used a canmax400dei which apparently has now been discontinued. It does give driver memory settings via the RS remote.).

I believe the Idatalink module has both the door lock interface and bypass in a single module and I think the blade modules can plug into the Compustar vice a wire hook up.

The main thing I'd ask the installer is if his setup will allow you to access driver 1/2 memory settings via the RS remote/s.

This won't help you much since I had my Compustar professionally installed in my TL and don't know any model numbers. The one thing I don't like about this unit besides the range (non SS), is that once the car is auto started, you can't pop the trunk. I hope the new units out there allow this now. I'd ask your installer.
