Component speaker wire gauge.
What's the general rule on wire size for the average lengths we use?
I wired mine quickly when installing the components just to "temporarily" see how they would sound. That temporary has turned into a year so it's time to tear it apart and rewire from the ground up.
I have a 250' spool of 16ga speaker wire free from work. I'm hoping that will work ok but I will go larger if needed. If need be, I could move the amp inside the car to shorten the wire runs since I don't care about the rear fill and I have a separate amp for the subs.
Any advantages/disadvantages to mounting the amp in the car? It doesn't have a fan so noise isn't an issue and it may benefit from AC in the summer.
But to the original question, is 16 ga ok for my JL amp bridged? If it matters, components are 4 ohm.

LOL. I've been bumping my center channel for the last week until I get the time to do the wiring.
