Can the navi on the TL be upgraded to this?
Just saw this article on Autoweek, I wonder if it's just a software upgrade.
Honda bolsters its voice-recognition navigation system

TOKYO -- The updated version of Honda Motor Co.'s voice-recognition navigation system won't require drivers to type in street names or to take their eyes off the road to read a computer screen.
Speak the name of a street or city and the computer displays it on a screen or guides you to the destination by voice.
IBM software offers guidance for more than 1.7 million street and city names in the continental United States. It also offers audible directions to stores, restaurants or other places.
The system is standard on the 2005 Acura RL sedan, which goes on sale in the United States in mid-October. It is optional on the 2005 Acura MDX SUV and Honda Odyssey minivan. The option costs about $2,000.
The system also can command the audio system, air conditioning and a cell phone by voice.
U.S. demand for a navigation system is expected to grow. About 730,000 vehicles, or 4.4 percent out of 16.7 million sold in 2003, had a factory-installed navigation unit, estimates Delphi Corp.
Delphi expects sales to grow to nearly 1 million units this year.[/SIZE]

This would be awesome, and I don't see why it couldn't be done with a DVD upgrade. But then maybe I'm missing the obvious or something. The voice recognition/mic is already built into the 2004 TL's - I would think all that would be needed is the software upgrade (via new navi DVD). Hopefully there's no ROM upgrade needed or anything.

In one of the threads rets posted, caball88 mentions that the navi software actually resides in ROM, so that blows my theory. Oh well, the alternative like he mentions would be some override of the internal ROM via the PC Card slot on the drive...

I'd be more interested in getting the XM Traffic Information, that would be an excellent upgrade. Although it looks like it only comes as part of the new "AcuraLink"....which unfortunately we don't have. I guess the chances of an upgrade are pretty slim
