Can NAV find subway stations?
I live in the Washington DC area. Can our nav system locate and display subway stations? If yes, what is the voice command to do this? I went through the command help screen and couldn't find anything. I got a $200 Garmin unit for my daughters car and it has this ability. Thanks. Steve

Steve, the Alpine DVD does not offer that function (Subway Stations). If you call Alpine to order the new 4.62 disc, you might suggest that to them for future updates. I was told at my dealership here in KC that these discs come out approximately every 2 years. If that is true, and Alpine does add that function, it will be awhile until you see that in the TL.

Thanks. I remember being surveyed by Acura maybe 2 years ago on what new features I'd like on the NAV/audio/hfl system. One of the questions was real time traffic info. I see that Acura now provides that. There were many other features under consideration that sounded real neat. They then questioned me about how the features should be priced (and what would be free).

The real time traffic is very nice. You should also get "traffic speeds", which tells you how conjested or non-conjested the traffic is on the highways. Like a stoplight, red is highly conjested, yellow is medium and green is free flowing traffic. Here in KC, we have the real time traffic, but not the traffic speeds yet.

If you do a search for business by name; type in subway; then select closest locations. If the subway location has a location within the navi disk then it will show up....

I tried this on the way to work this morning and I noted that typing in the name of the station might not work so well because it prefaced the station names with "METRO" or "VRE"—for example, Franconia-Springfield was listed at least twice as "METRO-FRANCONIA/SPRINGFIELD" and "VRE-FRANCONIA/SPRINGFIELD." (I didn't pay close enough attention to see if the Amtrak stop there showed up too.) Note also that with WMATA's habit of grafting on additional place names to the name of any given subway stop, you run the further risk of the navi punctuating it differently from the "official" name (as shown above—Franconia-Springfield has a hyphen in the real world but a slash in the navi world).

Word!
I just picked up a foot long hot meatball on white bread toasted to perfection!
Fear not, cause at least they will have the daily specials everyday at SUBWAY.
