Question Bluetooth Phone Handoff to Car?

I've been using my Verizon bluetooth phone through the car system since I got the car. How do I initiate a phone call on my cell phone (while in the car) and then let the car system take over. Every now and then I have to do this to get to the proper operator (press 1 for this, 2 for that, etc.). Once I get to the proper operator I close my phone but the call then gets disconnected. I thought the system was able to handle this scenario. Or am I doing something wrong? The system works perfectly hands free in all other cases. Thanks. Steve

Hit the HFL attention button on the steering wheel and say, "transfer" to switch back and forth between the HFL and the handset.

You can also hit the HFL button and say "send 0, 1, 2 etc" you'll be asked to confirm and it will send the digit for you.
