I understand Verizon has out or will in the next couple of weeks the Auidiovox XV6600. I'm trying to find out myself if there are any compaitibility issues. It looks pretty good if you want a full Pocket PC / phone combo and no camera. I'll post any news I find out.

TL and Verizon Motorola v710
I have the Motorola v710 from Verizon and it pairs with the Bluetooth phone in my 2004 TL. Once paired you can make calls from the steering wheel controls, you can see incoming caller ID. It doesn't use the phones address book you have to enter them into your car's address book using voice controls. It is considered not fully compatible because Verizon in the initial released firmware (version 8700_01.30.8F) they disabled Bluetooths ability to send battery meter, signal strength indicator and roaming to the cars display. There is a newer as yet unreleased firmware Version 8700_01.40.0R that restores these disabled Bluetooth functions. You can download this firmware from the internet if your comfortable enough doing it yourself (see: http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/p_forum.php?ff=475 ) or wait until Verizon officially releases it. I flashed the firmware and it works great. However if you screw up the flash you might have some issues on warranty getting it fixed. However after a while the display became quite boring (a good thing). Verizon's coverage is so good in Southern California, I have a no roaming plan and I charge my phone every night the display just shows full battery, no roaming and full signal strength all the time. Hope this helps.

Question - V710
This may be a crazy questions - but I just ordered the Moterola V710 from Verizon, but I am not sure how to link it up with my 04 TL. Can anyone help me with some directions. I am not even sure if it is covered in our manuals but I just ordered the phone about 5 minutes ago after reading dss's comments. Anyone have any helpful hints or new comments about the pros cons to the 710?? Thank you in advance for your help!

Your right - it only took 11 minutes. I think it would be great if the cell phonebook would work with the car.......My only complaint.......
I love the 710!!Great Phone!!

I just received my Motorola V710 (Verizon) yesterday and linked it last night. I used the instructions in the small spiral bound quick reference guide that came with the TL, and the instructions that came with the phone. It worked the first time and took only a few minutes. Basically the phone looks for a blue tooth device (the car). However, on my display in the car I only see the phone number appear, not the fancy stuff like signal strength, caller id, etc. Based on preliminary testing last night the signal strength is consistent with that of my previous Verizon phone, and the sound quality is decent. I made several calls using voice commands and it dialed accurately. When I program the car's phone book, perhaps it will recognize incoming numbers. I use a phone quite a bit for business and I am looking forward to testing this over the next few days.
The software version is 8700.01.30.8F
Thanks,
Richard

Do you have any more details on how the 7100g works with our HFL? Does it show batt/signal strength, caller id, etc...
Since I need full pda functionality, I'd been por'n through the forum on the Treo 650 and MPX220 (I am on GSM) and am currently leaning to the 220 based on price and balancing out the limits of both.
Now, the newly arriving 7100g, if it can do the HFL more complete, may be my out-of-nowhere final choice. --- I and hopefully others appreciate any feedback out there!

Sorry for the duplicate post, but I am a new TL owner, and new to the board. I wasn't sure where this would be most effectively placed.
My question is this: On Acura's TL site, it clearly states that the MID can display incoming text messages. This is an important feature for me, since I often use the stereos wonderful capability, and can miss the beep of my cell phone when a message comes in. Has ANYONE been able to figure out how to do this, or is it just a shortcomming of my phone and not the system? I have included the text directly from Acura's site for all to see:
Located in the Instrument Panel, the Multi-Info Display (MID) is communication-central for many of the technological features of the TL. For HandsFreeLink™, it displays call data, including text messages and incoming phone numbers. Some phones also relay signal strength and phone battery life to the MID. Maintenance Minder also uses the MID to display timely service reminders, according to engine performance.

I am using a Motorola e398, and signal strength and incoming number shows up fine. The phone seems to operate flawlessly with the HFL otherwise.
Please help!!!

All, Audiovox just released a ROM upgrade for the Verizon XV6600 pocket PC phone. This upgrade fixed the bluetooth stack. I loaded it today and tested with the TL HFL. Everything worked fine both dialing out and receiving calls. No battery or signal strength though.

Acura TL with XV6600 w/ software update.
Sclevan,
Can you document the steps you went through. I followed them as directed and now my XV6600 does not work at all with my 04 TL.
Be careful with the new patch from Audiovox!!
I wanted to use this phone with my Acura TL. I have read this board as well as others to get it to work. Without any patches, like 'dmizock' I was able to initiate a call from the phone, transfer to the HFL and I was good to go. After this "pairing" process. I was able to receive call via HFL and place calls via the phone where it would transfer automatically to the HFL (somewhat cool). I never was able to initiate the calls from the HFL. I tried all combinations of patches listed here, but my best experience is with the stock version of the XV6600.
Like many, I was anxiously awaiting the patch now posted on the Audiovox site. Now my experience is just like 'dmizock'. I cannot use HFL at all and I get clicking/static on the speakers in the TL. What started as a partially functioning system, is now useless.
Is there anyway to go back to the previous version? I am concerned as this patch seems to update information in ROM and the patches never did this, always able to get to the base state via a hard reset.

Acura TL HFL Audiovox XV6600
Sclevan,
I just noticed 1 possible difference between your success and my failure to get the XV6600 working with the Acura HFL. You have an 05 and mine is an 04. I wonder if the "code/firmware, etc" is different?
Does anyone know if you can have the dealer upgrade the HFL capabilities from an 04 to an 05?

I have not had the clicking static problem. The only issue I have is that is, that it appears everytime I get in the car I must initiate a call from the phone and have the automatic transfer fail to the HFL, hang up then dial again and it works. after that I can send and receive calls from the car, and phone with no issues.

FYI,
Here is what I did to get it to work:
After the ROM upgrade:
1. Deleted all previous pairings on the HFL system
2. Paired Phone with HFL system with no other apps installed (Base system after ROM upgrade/Hard reset)
3. At that point the phone worked fine except the one little dial out hiccup.

My TL is an '05, and my issues are the same as joelwenger's '04. It would seem that the '04/'05 difference is irrelevant. I'll give sclevan's procedure a try this evening.

V600 Via T-Mobile
Last night (2/17/04) my Bluetooth connection locked-up. The antena display stayed on even after the car and the phone was shut down and key removed from the ignition. Also, all audio fuctions did not work either.
I took my car to Acura today, and they said the Motorola V600 is "not" compatible with there Bluetooth. It may be worth mentioning, that I have had my phone for over 6 months and have made 1000's of calls with out a single problem.
Anyone esle have this issue?
Michael

OK, I've looked through these pages, and the answers that I need are totally separated.
I need a direct answer from somebody who knows bluetooth and the US Carriers well.
I want to get unlocked Samsung D500 with Verizon and link it to TL.
I know that Samsung D500 should work with TL. However my question is....
Can verizon service samsung D500?
I've been searching on the web, cannot find the direct answer!!!
Maybe, that means no....soo sad
2005 Anthracite TL w/ Navi

OEM or RonJon Body kit soon.
Searching for nice rims.

Enigma,
The Samsung D500 is a GSM phone...it will not work with Verizon (CDMA). There are some Korean CDMA phones you can bring to the states but convincing either Sprint or Verizon to activate them can be a bit of a daunting task.

Thanks. I noticed that after researching further.
I really like the samsung D500 but ended up getting cheap a$$ no blue tooth samsung N330, which actually works pretty well. Instead of bluetooth, it has speaker phone so it works very well in my TL.
Verizon only has Moto V710 for the bluetooth, which is way too big phone for me. Or even bigger, the blackberry! I am not about to pump myself up with those ffat ladies in my pocket. Not to mention super ulgy Audiovox or voicevox whatever that is.
I guess I will need another year for verizon to come up with new "tiny" bluetooth phone or I will have to change it to ATT so that I can get MOST of the good bluetooth phone.
Saddly yes, that is my conclusion.

I just got the phone and it sucks for these reasons:
1 - Poor battery life
2 - No ability to transfer contacts/calendar to/from PC via bluetooth
3 - Phone locked up on me twice for no damn reason.
Fortunately I have a 30 day return. This POS is going back tomorrow.
Too bad really, because the case ergonomics (screen, buttons etc.) are great compared to other bluetooth phones.

This thing is tiny! With the cover closed I can wrap my hand around it and make it disappear. That's not small enough for you?
With the cover close I can get 3 of them in my the front pocket of my jeans.

Still, I hate this V710 phone (see previous message from me 2 posts up).
I'm tempted to get the Sony Ericsson were it not for the fact I don't like the keypad and what's the deal with the damn joystick? Why are these buttons so god damn small? Are these phones made for 5 year olds or what?
Why are all the latest bluetooth phones so damn terrible? When are these damn manufacturers going to get it right? If it's not shitty keyboards/screens it's crappy battery life and faulty software.
I read an article where the biggest growing "polution" is old cell phons ending up in garbage dumps. No shit sherlock! That's where these things belong!!

Rogers is a fine carrier but they have shitty phones.
I need to go out and get a good bluetooth phone, get it unlocked and then move it over to the rogers network.
My christ's sake, Rogers doesn't even carry the Sony Ericsson T610, which many consider a pretty damn good bluetooth phone. Personally, I can't stand the "joystick" on the damn thing.
