Bluetooth adapter?

Hey everyone!

So I've been learning new things about my TL. I found out the previous owner installed a NEO iPod adapter. Sad thing is I have an iPhone 5s and I bought the cord that converts 30 prong to however many the new iPhones have but it doesn't work.. I thought about just buying a new adapter with Bluetooth as I hate dealing with cords anyways.

Do any if y'all recommend Bluetooth? I've heard the sound quality isn't great. And if you do recommend it links to some adapters that you have would be greatly appreciated!

I have a question for you: does your Neo have an Aux port or wire from it (in addition to the iPod cord) ? If so, you can use the Aux for your Bluetooth adapter and it will work well. Some of the adapters available don't allow control of the phone from the Bluetooth device and you'd have to use the phone to switch tracks or advance songs on a service like Pandora. The one I have is a Belkin that allows use of the device to switch tracks and allows control over the phone which I like (may not be as important to some). The sound quality as far as I'm concerned is very good, so I think Bluetooth in a 3G is a great thing.

One thing I can tell you is that the use of one of the cheap Bluetooth adapters that hook to the 30 pin connector of the cord will NOT work. I just tried this with my car (the adapter was $12 shipped so no big loss) but it will not at all connect the phone to the car in this way. The only way to have BT work (with my current setup) is via an AUX.

If the Neo doesn't have an AUX, you might want to spring for an iSimple or Grom both of which have BT modules that can be connected. I have a USA Spec which I installed > 1 year ago that didn't have the BT module, so I went with the BT via AUX.

I just use the BlackBerry Stereo gateway I think it's called. Phone connects every time automatically, which then automatically starts my car launcher on my LG G2.

IMO cords will always perform best and are far simpler, an much more reliable, from a tech perspective (even if installing AUX ins on earlier TLs is a pain). So of sound quality is your priority then re-think your cord-angst. You won't be disappointed.

BT will vary by receiver and transmitting device (your phone). Might suck, might be OK. It will not sound as good as wired. You might be disappointed. It will chew more phone battery so you may end up with a cord to charge anyway which kind of defeats the purpose.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, but I did some research and I figured out buying a lightning to 30 prong adapter off Ebay won't work. I bought one from Apple and it worked perfectly!
