Blown HFL - C'mon?
Brought my 2007 TL-S in for a factory recall ths morning, while there I told them that my HFL stopped working all of a sudden a month ago. I rarely ever used the HFL, mainly for hands free phone calls.
30 minutes after leaving the dealership, I get a call from the service dept and they tell me that my HFL is blown and it will be $445 to replace + the $55 "diagnostic fee". When asked how an HFL that is used harly ever just goes bad the serive writer said "hard to tell nowadys with electronics, could be a bad mother board". I did get an extended warranty when I bought the car CPO, but looks like its only powertrain. I declined the repair until I could look into this a little more. Anyone else ever deal with an HFL just going bad? |

Removal of the bad HFL and install of the new unit will take 10 minutes max, absent any physical handicaps. G/L. |
HFL Gone Bad
Yes, I encountered the same problem with the HLF in my 07. It only caused me a $100 (my deductible/extended warranty) to have it replaced. Initially, it started intermmiting and eventually stopped working. I never knew what the final cost was nor did I ask.

I hope that you did not have to pay the diagnostic fee! You diagnosed it for them.

Had a 2007 and sold it to a friend. The nav system started getting the disk read error last week. He took it to the dealer and they told him for only $3600 they would fix it. He declined and found Alpine would rebuild it for $300. Then he left this week to go on a trip and came out after a few days of the car being parked at a hotel and it wouldn't start. Had the car jumped and then he went to a dealer. They quoted him $380 to replace the HFL and said it caused the battery drain over the 3 days. Needless to say He is pretty pissed off at this stage and called Acura Customer Service. We'll see what they say.
