I was in Target today and saw a new Dual-Disc from Eric Clapton - anyone heard it yet? It had the DVD-Audio icon on the label.

Yea the dual discs are getting popular... They are CD on one side and DVD-A on the other... I have Simple-Plans newest CD/DVD and it sounds great on both sides in the TL.

Just be aware, DualDiscs can either have DVD-A or DVD-V on the flipside. The threads listed below have comments about DVD-A and DualDisc.

Well the Simple Plan says it is in 5.1 DVD-Video, but it comes up on the display on the radio as a DVD-A, and plays in surround?

What B&M retailers are people buying DVD-A's at?

A quick check of Best Buy, Circuit City, Local music store, Borders books, were all basically fruitless, as they had no more than about 25 discs between all the stores, and the selection was pretty pathetic.

I usually prefer FM to XM with it's metallic distorted sound, although sometimes this is a difficult choice. Some music can be compressed better, and it sounds pretty decent on XM, but if it has a lot of percussion listening is unbearable.

If you have Fry's Electronics in your area, they have a pretty decent selection, otherwise it's online: Places like Tower Records, Circuit City, Elusive Disc, Music Direct to name a few.

Good luck and enjoy.

I bought Hell Freezes Over and Brothers in Arms, and I'm not fond of either one. They sound great, but the songs are too slow and boring...

Yea, I knew about that one. Just making a general statement about DualDiscs as there is no standard regarding contents. Several folks purchased Bruce Sprinsteen's "Devil & Dust" DualDisc only to be disapointed it doesn't play in our cars. Sony/BMG and its affiliates have stated they will use DVD-V on the flipside vs the DVD-A hi-rez format. SACD is and will continue to be Sony's hi-rez audio.

Pat Metheny's "Imaginary Day" (1997) is available on DVD-A. I found a copy at Frys. Also available at DVD Empire. You could also find it at other online sites (Acoustic Sounds, Buy DVD Now and DVD Planet).
