Best Buy Viper Alarm Install - Aye or Nay??

Best Buy has Viper Alarm system for $229 installed. I had Viper on my 00 TL and we have one in my wife's car (both were installed by Earmark Car Audio here in Dallas)...I called them for an estimate and said it would start at $299. Not sure if any 'special' wiring would be needed which would add to the cost...

Back to the Best Buy deal, since I am leasing this TL, I just need a basic functioning alarm with a shock sensor...

I probably will go with Earmark and spend the extra $$$ unless there is overwhelming feedback to the contrary...

TIA for any input on this...

Nay. I wouldn't trust them with your car.

If you are leasing why bother? If the car gets stolen your insurance covers you and you get a new car

I want the alarm more so to deter someone from just breaking into the car (this after reading some of the threads on the 3G Forums about break-ins) ...I keep it in the garage when i'm at home, but I feel so 'unprotected' when i'm out. This is first car I have had in 12 years that does not have an aftermarket alarm on it...

Why not add a shock sensor? It is cheaper. I do, however, understand your concern about the car being broken into.

Personally I don't see a real benefit in spending a few hundred dollars for an alarm on a leased car though. But if you are going to get it, I wouldn't get it done at best buy, I would go to a reputable shop in your area.
