cheaper, id offer 225 to start. i have 500 rms watts on mine, does plenty without taking up my truck. just food for thought. ive also found much better clarity with a separate sub amp rather than have it draw off of your highs amp, regardless of wattage. but if you're going to be running a 50x4 +100x1 type 5 channel and a small free air, it probably wont be a big deal. i just dont see any free airs. my box is 0.65 cu/ft with an alpine type r 10

I am running the kicker 8 inch free air sub with dual 2 ohm voice coil. Also running a memphis 8 inch sub in a sealed enclosure. Added the kicker as I was not getting enough bass. Now it sounds like I have a 10 or 12 inch sub. The 8 in sealed gives me that tight bass. And the free air gives me the deeper bass I was looking for. Running a 200 watt alpine mono to both and running in series. Highly recommend this config. Rest of set up is focal separates front and rear and just using the stock amp to run the center channel. I am tempted to replace this. Have a 4x50 alpine to run the separates. Also have the ipod adapter.

Not a good idea on so many levels.

The W6 and W7 subs sound extremely good when installed IB. If I was forced to do an 8" IB it would be a W7. Not going to fit in the stock location without some serious cutting.

For the price of an 8w7, I would opt for the 12w6v2 (im biased) but NOT in the stock location. Make a baffle board and put it in the ski pass.

I think the OP wants to increase the performance of his factory sub by just a bit. There's a plethora of knowledge regarding quality audio setups for the 3G TL and we all know that using the factory woofer location is stupid. But, is there a sub that could replace the factory one that would offer a moderate increase in performance without making it sound like rubbish? (Assuming an aftermarket amp is used and some felt is installed to reduce deck rattle)

Best free-air sub on the market?
