Bad dvd rom- fix or go aftermarket?

ok guys ive searched and cant find my exact scenario. I bought a 2004 acura tl with nav, but being ignorant of the technology i think ive been tricked lol.

Previod ownee said i just needed a nav dvd for the rear Dvd rom. Well after lookinh at it i noticed the PC card is also missing. SO... its probably safer for me to say i need a whole dvd rom/ cd/ and pc card. Seems im looking at roughly $400 to get these on ebay and im still not certain itll fix my unit ( insert disk message)

so my question, should i take the chance and spend the $400 on a complete rear unit, or go aftermarket on my head unit and find an interface that allows me to use my steering wheel controls?

aftermarket. use the krankitup double din kit and buy a double din system. use the pac audio device for steering wheel controls. the OEM graphics look a decade old and you need to buy upgrades every year to stay current. i would ditch it in a second (and i did)
