Backup Camera installed but...

I installed a new Backup camera. It would work if you just turned the car on, but after a while, the screen would get so noisey, that it would just turn black with wavy lines in it. I thought perhaps it was a grounding problem, but I've grounded it as best as I can I think. And in fact, after doing so, it has gotten worse. Now it shows video for maybe 2 seconds before getting so wavy that it's an unrecognizable image. I powered DOM's device off of pin 2 on the Navi's 8 pin connector. I'm thinking that perhaps it's a lack of power issue but I'm not sure. Any suggestions?

Tapping the Navi drive = Bad idea. That's a pretty expensive nav drive (upwards of 3K) and a simple electrical hookup could short it out. Either way, tap the reverse lights for power when you do the install.

To troubleshoot to see if it's the camera, hook the camera up to a TV and then turn it on. See if the picture goes wavy or it stays solid. If it's good then the camera isn't the issue. If it goes wavy it's the camera.

Then check dom's unit by hooking up another video source to it like a DVD player into the RCA jack where the reverse camera was. If it's a good picture then it's not dom's and more than likely that power tap.

Mine is wired in the same spot with no issues, i used the crimp clip for that and soldered all other connections. Go over your wiring again
