Audio Newb still need help with OEM Integration
Hey folks,
Looking to upgrade my Audio system in my 07 TL Type-S. i have gotten the speaker situation handled. I'll have Alpine Type-R components up front and Alpine Type-R Coaxials in the back all powered by an Alpine PDR-F50. I know it's not great but it was given to me as a gift so I ain't complaining.
As far as bass goes i was thinking of going with 2 10" Image Dynamics IDMAX D4 powered by a Massive Audio N4. I'll get a custom box built to either use the existing the sub location as a port or check something else out.
Where I need help is OEM integration/ Bass restoration. I was talking to a local audio installer but he just threw products my way without answering questions. I have at the forums and still haven't found an answer either. The tech was praising the Audio Control DQ61 like no tomorrow. i was looking at it online and it sounds like the way to go. My question is, i like to listen to a lot of spanish music (yeah I'm mexican) and rock that often requires some sort of bass restoration. Will i need separate bass restoration hardware or will the DQ61 handle it? Or would you guys go with something else and why?
As always, thanks for the input. I do appreciate it.

Since you going to run 4ch amp, and components up front and coax in the back with 4ch amp given, you will need another amp for your subs, great choice on subs, im not a fan of Alpine speakers or components but hey if it was free then why not.
I got myself in to this hobby and it gets very expensive depending on what kind of goal you wanna reach.
this is what I would do if I was in your shoes.

#2. google what else can you do with your sound output, what kind of processing or processor is out there that might work for you and your application, I would start with LOC2 which is high input to low input for your sub, but if you go with DSP which is processor you wont need that, processor will do everything for you, also look in to Audison bit10, or bit one, or Helix DSP... ect...
#3 Ask question on the install, just because you have good and nice sounding Sound quality speakers, what people miss the most is the importance of installation.
Your installation of new speakers and system is the main key besides on components and amps you will have in your car.
Sound deadening like dynomat or second skin or other brands just to name will work great and will make a whole lots of difference.
If you going to do the job yourself, read, read, read, read... look what other people are doing on diyma... I think this will be your best source not only to see what you could do with the sounds but also you will learn many new tricks and what good sound quality set up are all about.

Forget the Alpine PDR-F50. It's only four channel and you'll need a fifth channel for your subs. That means a second amp, or just get the Alpine PDX-V9 (Link: ) which will power your whole system with five channels.

For his IDMAX he will need around 800 w rms of clean power, the pdx9 cant come up with that kind of output.
I agree skipping rear fill, and center CH, only if will keep stock head unit in.
