Question Anyone have a free air AND box in trunk

i was thinking about adding a LITTLE more bass to my set up and i was thinking of adding an 8 free air in the stock sup location but was curious about power, currently i have the stock sub removed and the plug spliced into a loc that goes to my amp for my 12 in the trunk. will i need an aditional amp/replace existing amp with one with more chanels? can i simply add it in series before the loc will that be enough power? or should i simply add more power to my existing sub? i can do this for free but am worried i will blow yet another sub.

Probably will help if you let up know what stuff you have currently. Specifically, the model and brand of your sub and amp.

That amp will not run below 4 ohms when bridged. You won't be able to use it with a second sub very easily.

Kinda need to know which punch sub that you have. If it is a P1, then you are maxed out with power. If it is a P2 or P3, then you should be fine with more power.

If you just want a bit more output, you could move to a ported box if you currently have a sealed one.

You don't want to run a sub in the stock location along with a 12" and especially with one of them being a free air. The best thing is more power and a better sub.

sounds like i will add more juice. first i am going to take measurements to see just how much power its getting at the sub then go from there as i said i dont need to add a LOT more bass. ill post my results when i am finished and then go from there.

there is prob no way the wife would let me get a whole new set up without upgrading hers first...

More power won't do anything

You need double the power to net 3db in output which isn't noticeable. Either your box is the weak link or you have shitty subs

my sub is def not shitty nor is my amp im not saying its top of the line. but after going over my system i did find that my loc had some wiring issues that i was able to fix and i was to reclaim the bass acuracy i didnt notice that i lost. ( i JUST got home from deployment so i have not had a chance to really listen to my sound till now)

next i plan to sit down and play with the settings on the amp they are still left at factory setting and the way its mounted in my car you cant adjust anything on the amp while the sub is in the car. reason it is mouted this was is to reduces visible wiring. plus i have a wired remote that allows me to adjust bass from the driver seat. after that i may increase power.

furthermore i will have to completely disagree with you on power seeing as how i spent a good chunk of my morning with a multimeter reading what is going to the sub measure both voltage and frequncy. ANYONE can cleary hear the differance in a half a volt. what do you think the volume controls do?
