anybody with electrical diagrams or knowledge help out? audio unit backlight iss.

Heya guys.

symptoms:

the lights from the bottom deck stays on, its the whole deck thats under the navi controls and above the flip up compartments. few days ago it didnt turn on at all, but it randomly started working again. it does behave differently now tho, when the cars on it behaves normally, when the cars off the button lights stays fully on.

my car is a TL-S 07'. i recently had an alarm and amp put in. alarm includes remote start. also, locs and and amp was put in after the stock amplifier.

------------------------------

update: the dealer replaced the whole audio deck, the lights worked fine for about 2 weeks, now its back. It wont turn off. Can anyone trace out what wire this is?

another symptom, the alarm arms and disarms, it flashes all the lights when the cars headlights are left to any position but auto. (its not a slow strobe, but looks like an actual short)

someone screwed something up if it started after ur amp and combo unit was installed. they rigged something and tapped off the wrong cable. or they used the wrong bypass modules.

Regarding the head unit - it is pretty common for stereo installer to tap off a switched lead in the area of the console. Sometimes they nab an illumination wire by mistake. Your situation sounds like a loose connection though if the symptoms come and go even after replacing the entire head unit. You're getting unswitched (constant) power to a circuit that is supposed to be switched.

Not sure if it is the same guy that installed the alarm and the amp. Either way, you definitely need to go back to the guy that installed the alarm /RS. The flickering marker lights sound like a short that can cause larger problems or (worst case) an electrical fire. If you think it is "difficult" or "awkward" to pressure the guy into fixing the problem now, imagine how tough it will be to get get him to pay for the damages from an electrical fire.
