Alarm Chirp (Speaker relocation)

I know many people are upset because the lock chirp is so quite. I just wanted to share a success which i found in the forums. I pulled the alarm horn out of the wheel well and relocated it to the front bumper. It by far is not a loud as an after market alarm but it is much louder that it was. I am mych happier that I was with the chirp!!! Very easy to do. Open the wheel well on from left tire. Clip the wires for the horn and remove the one bolt holding the horn. Pull the wires bact into the engine comp. by the battery. Use some 18 g wire to extend it to the bumper. Used some zip ties to hold it in place. I suggest this for anyone as annoyed as I was.

No need to take the bumper pff. Just rerun the wires to the side of the rad.. and zip tie it the the post right behind where the front plate woulld go. There is a perfect place for it and it will keep it out of the rain. The hardest part was getting the speaker free from its factory spot. You will need some patience.

What is the feasibility of replacing the factory alarm horn with an aftermarket one?

I'm amazed how quiet the chirp is, but how loud it is when the alarm goes off...

Not a bad idea...

phee are u sure a new speaker would make it louder? What makes u think the amplification is enough to make an audible difference on an after market speaker?

An new speaker I dont think will make it louder. The volts are very low which make the chirp so low. You would neet to boost the volts to 12v and get a new speaker because the factory would burn up with that many volts.
