AE SBP15/IB15a order, 4+ discount anyone?
Just trying to gauge interest on these.
Here's what I've found:
The IB15a is $199 for 1-3 subs and $175 for 4 or more.
The SBP15 is $289 for 1-3 and $249 for 4 or more.
The SBP15 is supposedly available with a 3-4 week lead time which would be great if it were true. I really hope that's the case.
Some of the parts for the IB15a need to be ordered from China and the lead time could be considerable. Along with that, there's a minimum order that hasn't been met.
The SBP15 is the better driver but more expensive. The regular IB15 is already an ultra low distortion sub, the SBP15 is said to have "substantially less distortion". The regular IB15a is the best sounding sub I've ever heard, so I have to try the improved version. The only downside is the weight goes from 17lbs to 25lbs but that's a minor price to pay.
I'm getting a pair of SBP15s in the next few weeks. If anyone wants to go in for the discount, let me know. Here's a link to the subs: http://www.aespeakers.com/phpbb2/vie...php?f=3&t=2693
I love this quote: "As they are good enough for critical monitoring in the recording industry, they are far superior to anything in the car industry in terms of low distortion and accuracy."
"The SBP15 does have an even higher parts cost, but with lower distortion, more linearity, and more power handling is a much more advanced driver. It has a more manageable profit margin as well which lets me build them without losing money. Yet at $289 for the 15" and $249 for the 12" is still 40% cheaper than an IDMax and is far superior in terms of distortion and much more suited to an IB install. Keep in mind these are the same drivers that are implemented as the bass section for critical monitoring in studios"

Probably on Friday the 30th of this month. I can do it at any time but with all of the large bills and travel we're doing, I wouldn't have to listen to the GF complain as much if I wait till pay day.
