2008 TL w/o Nav

Hey guys,

So I just picked up a 2008 TL without Nav because it was going to cost too much money.

Can anyone recommend a good option for an in-dash nav?

Thanks.

Andrew

you can get a OEM Navi conversion done. Look on ebay for a NAVI Conversion for a TL. Also you can go aftermarket but there are no pre made mounting kits and such like for some other cars so it's pretty much a custom install and will cost a pretty penny. Either way, it's gonna be costly.

like myron said, there is no "easy" way to get navi in a non navi TL... I am in that same boat. Nav is not a necessity for me though. As for aftermarket equipment, you will end up with a big blank screen where the disc/radio read out is on your dash if you put a unit where the cd/tape player is. To me that is kinda weird and I dont like the looks of it.

a lot of people go with a oem interface (bit one, ms8, 3sixty, etc...)

I looked at doing the navi conversion, but damn its $$$$.

I have an non nav 08 base and went the radical route.. put in a double din Kenwwod head unit with nav, back up camera, Sirius, iPod control. I considered conversions, ipod controllers, 3sixty, etc but still wanted an all in one solution.

It's not cheap but worth it, at least to me. I love the sound I have now as well as the extras. I paid about 5K+ for the setup, about what the nav package would have cost.

A used TL with navi is 500 bux more than without when used. I dont see how doing a conversion would be done than adding the extra cost in you loan which is no more than 10-20 more bux a month.

An in-dash navi won't control the rest of the car and likely won't work with the HFL and stuff. If you just want to figure out how to get around then buy a Garmin or a Tom Tom. The aftermarket navigation units are better than the Acura one anyway.

The 07-08 updated navi works great in my city. The newer disc i get the faster/more responsive it gets. And I love full voice control of the ELS audio and A/C systems. That said in you case since you don't have navi yet get one of the nice Garmin Nuvi wide screen 4.5" screens. Don't forget to remove it and wipe the windshield clean so there is no proof you have such a thing in you car to break-in. Good luck. I used to sell these when I worked in car audio department at Circuit City.

Here's the nav screen on my Kenwood. It's Garmin. The screen is affected by the sun though, like all these screens.

Did you do this through an Acura dealership or somewhere else? And if you did go somewhere else did you had to get the navi on your own and how much was it without the labor?. Now once you did the conversion, does all the feature of the navi works like the ones that comes loaded already? My bad for so many questions but i'm eager to find out.
