2006 TL W/ nav - have USA spec install ??'s
Just purchased a 2006 TL w/ navigation. Looking to purchase and install a USA Spec MP3 system for my IPod (no need for text, as I'd like to use XM). This forum has been a wonderful source of information of how I can do this on my own. That being said, I have a few basic questions before I purchase the equipment and attempt the install. I've included some pictures to help clarify.
Pic #1 - DS Panel
1 - I pulled back the the carpet on the drivers side to expose the back of the radio / CD player. I'm guessing that the "white-ish" looking plug pictured is what I need to pull from my system and plug into some "y" cable that is included with the USA Spec system. Is that correct?
Pic #2 - Armrest
2 - Most pictures I've seen on this forum shows users fishing the IPod cable through this "removable-looking" panel under the armrest. Is this panel actually removable? I tried to pry it open with a small flat-head screwdriver but had no luck. Is there some special trick to removing this panel that I am missing?
Appreciate your help.

i have a usaspec, and:
1. yes. it's the plug on the driver's side.
2. the panel comes off. i just used my fingers to push the two things in and lifted.
i have the module under the cupholders.
hope this helps

moved to the audio subforum. Also please do not post copies of the thread in different locations, one will suffice.
To answer your post, yes that is the white plug you must remove. Also that panel is removable, just try a little harder, and it is two clips, not one.

Thanks for the quick responses and the pictures / links - all very helpful. Couldn't' get my fingers in the holes where the clips are at, but a medium flat-head screwdriver with a cloth to prevent scratches did the trick.
My 2006 TL did not come with the "grooved" armrest tray, but I've read in this forum that the 2007 and later trays do and can be purchased. I was curious if anyone had attempted the tray "upgrade" and how easy / difficult the install was.
Thanks again for the advice.

Actually - might have answered my own question with regards to the tray. Closer observation shows it held on by two screws, attached to the under-side, If that's it, the install should be real easy.
