2005 TL Navigation Issue
I just bought a 2005 TL with Navi. I bought it from an used car dealer. When doing my homework on the car, I brought it to the Acura dealer where it was always serviced for an used car inspection. Everything was fine. I bought the car. When I went to set up the navigation system, I noticed my home city and province wasn't to be found. I looked at the updates. Nothing. I called Acura Canada... the sent my to Alpine Electronics... they sent me to Nav Tech who does the maping... they sent me to the local dealer... who sent me back to Acura Canada.
For the record, I am from Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Am I screwed? Did I just buy a car that has a useless navigation system?
The newer model years have Nova Scotia covererd to a T. Acura says that I can't use those DVD's in my car. Different systems. The only thing I can use are the updates for the 2005 model year... which don't include Halifax.
I am slightly pissed. The dealer in Halifax itself never bothered to mention it at all. Um... it's a major system in the car and no mention that where we live isn't covered.
If I had known that, I would have bought the same model year with almost 20,000 less km on it... without the Navi... for a grand less.
Bottomline... am I screwed with the Navi or is there some way around it that anyone knows of? Thanks!

Check the version on your disc and call 1-888-549-3798 to see how many newer updates have come so far.
You may just need a new disc. I have a 2005 TL as well and my Navi kinda acts up when I get to newer communities (or that are only 2-3 years old)

Thx. However, I checked the website that shows the current coverage and Halifax isn't on it. Most of Nova Scotia isn't on it.
I was on the phone with Acura and they're useless.
I was told that the 2007 TL Navi DVD, which has my area on it, won't work on my TL. I have 3.0 version and that's a 4.0 version. Does anyone know if this is actually true?

use the map reporter on the site to report your area as not being on the disk, navteq might be able to update it for you.
