Yeah.... My cable is routed the same. I agree - it could be better. Dealer says Acura wanted it that way. I think that Acura rushed in getting this product out there. Considering the amount of thought that went into everything else in this car, this iPod integration seems like more of a tool to lure potential 2006 buyers than anything else. I hope that they realize that, and work hard to put out a more functional and aesthetic upgrade.

What About How The Ipod Interface Works With The Car? Is There A Read Out On The Navi Screen Or Do We Have To Control It Through The Ipod?

^^ um ... there is no real interface ... people have been discussing it the ENTIRE time. You must use their shit box ass hat software to scroll through play lists then u can use ur steering wheel controls. All the while not being able to SEE what is happening.

Do you have to have the Navi option? Very nice option, sound like a win!

not totally lame

so far this is the only unit that allows control from the steering wheel - that alone makes it the best IMO

You guys are Crazy with all the jibberish! But, bad news for some of you guys maybe. I have a 05 TL and installed the IPOD adapter and it worked for about month or so with no problems. However, about a week or two ago it stopped working for no reason. Say I'm on XM and I push the CD/CHANGER button to switch to the IPOD it just freezes up. It'll still show my XM info but doesn't play any sound. I'll repeatly push the button again and nothing happens. So, when I push the XM it turns back to XM and plays music. When I then push the CD/CHANGER button and if a CD is in it it'll play but if not doesn't do anything even with the IPOD hooked up still. Anyone with this same problem?

I had the iPod Music Link installed from my dealer today. They were reluctant to try it because my car is a 2005 model, and not designated as "compatible".

I was told that an attempt could be made - however, I would be responsible for installation fees even if the technician could not make it work. I said, “Do your best!” In any case, the installer had it in within two hours. It works flawlessly!

I used to drive an Audi S4 2001 model with a 30gig Phatbox installed. The interface is exactly the same. Although some have described it as useless – I find it quite functional, and certainly a step in the right direction!

As others have already posted how the system works, I will not rehash the same material. I will say that the sound is excellent. It is as good as a CD, and the line level is the same. Therefore, you will not have to adjust volume going between XM, CD or radio.

The dealer charged:
ACURA MUSIC LINK $189.00
INSTALLATION $175.00
ATTACHMENT KIT $10.00
SUB-HARNESS $15.00

TOTAL $389 PLUS NY TAX

Making a grand total of $420.12 installed!

I was expecting more......

Bottom line - The sound quality is superb. Once you get used to the clunky interface, it is very easy to navigate to any Artist, Album, Playlist or Genre.

It would be nice to have the songs and artist displayed - but, I guess that will be a software upgrade in the future.

My 2 cents.

hey waqar, i live in NY too. just wondering what dealer did you get this done at b/c im very interested in getting my '05 ipod'd out too. thanx!

Angry 2005 TL Ipod adapter is NOT 100% COMPATIBILE

I too tried the Acura Ipod adapter for my 2005 Acura TL 6spd with Navigation-- I can control the CD + or - and the track + or - and also have use of the RANDOM via touchscreen or from the radio itself. I can use the steering wheel controls to go up one song at a time and also the # 5 and # 6 button on the bottom right of the radio. I have NO CLUE what ARTIST, SONG or ANYTHING for that matter. I was wondering if this is what all other 2004 or 2005 TL owner's are experiencing. I know how it is suppose to function on the 2006 TL with all the nice on scree functions. The five dealerships I have called immediately knew that this Ipod adapter is not 100% COMPATIBLE. ie no artist or track recognition capabilities. I just wanted to know if this is what WAGAR is experiencing. The sound quality is great and I love the steering wheel controls but it sure would be nice to be able to pick your artist and song rather than just randomly getting a song to play. I have over 4500+ songs downloaded on my I-Pod. This just Sucks. I even tried calling the dealership listed by Wagar and they said that they have never been able to get a TL older than the 2006 models to work as the unit was designed with all the current functions.
