2004 fog wiring limits
The headlight housing-based fogs run a 9006 51w bulb. Would the wiring and harness handle a 9005 65w bulb? I ordered some Hyper Yellows for a change of pace and received the wrong ones. It was easier to modify these than to try and return them.
Want to make sure I don't melt anything or start a fire. I wouldn't think 65w would do it, but I wanted more of an expert opinion.

I don't think you will melt anything as some people here run 85 Watt bulbs and haven't melted anything to my knowledge inside the headlight.
As far as wiring, some people run HID kits off the stock harness without issues and those draw a bit of current on startup. I don't think you should have a problem with 65 watts.
HOWEVER, the problem is that the bulbs are 9005 and 9006! The socket or the bulb may need to be modified in order to make it fit! I suggest you return your bulbs before modifying them.

Modifying the bulb was extremely easy. If anyone is reading this that is thinking about doing it, that's the much easier solution. I can pop the old bulbs right back in. and there's nothing modified about the connector or the housing.
I can definitely notice the difference in the amount of light put out.
