I'm thinking of installing a 12v solar charger for my Nexus 7 tablet which is already installed inside the dash. Right now it gets charged as I start the car which sometimes is not enough and I have to plug in a portable battery bank. Does anyone have a solar charging setup which is totally independent from the car's battery voltage?
You would probably need to use a rectifier diode to make sure that solar panel charges the tablet without some of the current being drained off to charge the car battery too.
