07 TL-S OEM Amp failure?
So yesterday I replaced my two front door speakers with JBL stage 3s. After about 5 minutes POOF gone and I only have rear speakers and my front center channel. My friend said it’s the factory amp in the passenger side footwell. He also said that I HAVE to use this amp and I can add to it to drive the new speakers (two more stage 3s going in back and also have a new Kicker comprt 8 in the rear center spot)
Is this the case? Thanks all!

not sure where to start. the only thing you want to maintain the OEM Amp for is for the center channel. new amplification for all other drivers. the JBL stage 3 speakers are 2way or 3 way?. either is wrong, door speakers are mid bass. tweeters in dash. rear speakers are only for rear fill and would never have any tweeters.

I just Don’t understand how I did the right speaker and it was perfectly fine for three weeks and then five minutes after the stereo shop does the left one they both go out. Coincidence? Hmm

Two way in the rear is asking for a terrible sound stage. No real reason to have much going on back there. I keep rears and center channel on OEM Amp. Front components = Mid bass in door and tweeters in dash. Your not going to want more than 2 tweeters total, so no 2 way in doors.

absolutely not. in fact there is no real reason to change the rear speakers at all. Here is my build thread. There is a lot of valuable information that you can learn although the scope of the build is different.

Problem solved !
So yesterday I was reading this thing about resetting your transmission memory where you hold the accelerator down for 30 seconds or something and then turn the car on off and all that crap and hey it’s like you just drove the car off the lot. So I did it and oddly enough When I turned the car back on the front speakers were back. Who knew?!
