'07-'08 OEM radio work in 2005 TL?
Was just curious, does the mp3 playback model plug and play in the 2005 models? If not, why?
Did a search, could not find info on this swap. Thanks.

There are quite a few posts on here but since you couldn't find them I will explain as briefly as I can without leaving out any important information.
I haven't looked into this much mainly because I really haven't had a major desire to put just the radio in the car. But the 07-08 units use differnt connectors including the antennae which would need an adaptor to work. But the connectors are different between the 04-06 to 07-08 meaning you would have to find connectors and re-pin. Not to mention the new units use the GA-NET system which in short talks to everything in the car a certain way. I was talking to another member here Pseau and he had mentioned he was unsuccessful in putting the 07 radio in a 04-05, he had the radio in his vehicle which has navigation. He was getting error messages on the screen and the disc changer would not work.
So in short. If you plan to do this everything will have to be swapped in from the particular year and you will have to do a lot of researching to re-pin the new connectors.
Maybe after I complete the 07 nav conversion with 07 screen, I will look into the radio. But for now Pseau would be your best source to contact about this right now.
Good luck though.

What exactly are you wanting to do where you would want the 07 radio or an aftermarket unit? You can pick up an ipod adaptor for our cars for around $130 and is much better than having an mp3 disc player in my opinion. Or if you don't have an ipod there are still aux adaptors. Then you can still retain that stock look in the dash but have even greater functionality.

I was looking to have cd text but the ipod input is really what I want more. The newer unit seems to have a nicer display screen as well. I will probably add the ipod input and spend money on an amp and speakers.
