Drive may have died.

Suggestion - post your question on the 3G TL forum to get more replies: https://acurazine.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=94

The DVD is really hot. Is the drive broken? Can it be confirmed?

Sounds like the drive, but you'll probably need a dealer's service center to tell you definitively.

Look for loose wire connections in the trunk unit.

Eject the disc from the trunk drive and inspect it.
If it has grooves or gouges in it, the drive is bad per the TSB on the Navi drive.

If the DVD looks fine, clean it and reinsert to see if that solves your problem.

You should be able to hear or feel the drive spin up after you put the disc in.

When you open the door on the drive, does the display tell you to shut it?

It does tell you the disc is out. It also will display other if pci door slot is open ect.... One thing I noticed, when I had the unit in my hand - the cooling fan was not operating when I installed the disc.

It sounds like you need to remove the Navi disc drive, call the Alpine facility in Torrance and send the drive to Alpine-- other members paid @ $160 for the repair of the Navi drive.

G/L.
