06 Tl Nav with no xm radio, is there an ipod hookup..

My 06 TL has Nav but no XM (Canadian )and I desperatly need to hook my ipod up. The periphereal looks like you need the XM button fo it to work. Soshe has a hardline FM modulator that hooks into the antenae but you have to use the ipod to control everything...any help would be great.

Do you have an auxilliary button instead of the XM button? If I'm not mistaken, I thought I read that the canadian TL's have no XM button, but the appropriately input int he back of the headunit... thus you may be able to use the AUX button (if you have one ..)

Posts: 45 Mode button confirmed on Canadian TL

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just installed a Dice Ipod module in my Canadian 04 Tl non-navi. Works fine! Dice channel is fed on XM input, selected with the mode button on the steering wheel.

Go ahead and do it! You won't regret it.

Looks like I was right, there is an XM input on the back of your unit like there is on our U.S. units and you can input your Peripheral into this and use the "MODE" button on the steering wheel to toggle b/w all inputs.

Best of luck

So even though there is no AUX or XM button there is a spot on the back of the head unit, thats great news...So....to go with dice or with periphereal and if I go with the later of the 2, do I order the one for a TL with Nav and XM? Dice seems to sell theres with a non XMmodel. Thanks again.

Order the peripheral model PXAMG -- you won't regret it, there is only one model.

What you'll have to do to access the ipod is likely the following:

press the FM/AM button, then press "MODE" on your steering wheel, and this will punt you into the Peripheral PXAMG menu (text driven on your screen) that will let you cycle through various *new* inputs with the Right wheel on the console:
1) IPOD
2) SAT
3) AUX 1
4) AUX 2

Basically, my understanding is that even though the XM button doesn't exist on your particular canadian model, the XM functionality is still there (as there is still the XM input in the back of the unit). Apparently it was cheaper for Acura to create a front bezel for canadian TL's that did not have the XM button, but it was too expensive to eliminate the requisite XM electronic internals so they retained the XM input the rear of the canadian TL.

Great news for you!

Hey guys! This stuff sounds great! I've posted elsewhere but never saw responses. My question is if this is all true, then could we also not just use the HON-SC1 adapter in our cars and select it using the same method with the MODE button? Going further, will the PXAMG work with the HON-SC1 adapter in place of the factory XM module? Seeing as it sounds like the HON-SC1 is a direct replacement for the XM module.

PLEASE tell me yes!!!

hey guys
does anyone know of a good installer in the Toronto area who could install the peripheral unit? I bought it from Future shop the other day and after an hour of trying to install it they came back and said that its not compatible with my head unit! I told them many times before they started that there is an extra connection on the back but they said it was not there! I have a feeling because the box says not compatible with navi/xm units they just didnt even bother trying. Regardless, does anyone know an experienced isntaller in Toronto?
Thanks for your help.

Just got the Peripheral PXAMG working on my 04 Acura TL Canadian Model, audio head unit# is 1TB1. Installation took about 10 min. Everything is working accordingly ...except the SCAN button does not change the Display Text between artist, song title, etc.. which is a very minor issue. The sound quality is clean and crisp as promised. Very satisified!

Want to share this good news to other Canadian TL owners who plan to do the same.

Cheers.

Nice! Was looking for confirmation that this could be done with our models, since all the postings mentioned XM and I was losing heart. Thanks!! Now that I know, this is going to be one more addition to the short list of things to work on.

I tried installing mine but it did not work. I was wondering if in the back of the Navi when I take the iSimple harness and want to plug it to the back if I have to replace a plug or since it is Canadian and does not have XM I just plug on into the other and let the other one loose then connect the other side into the Peripheral unit. Please let me know. Thank you in advance.
