'05 TL cassette not working properly?

Hi I'm trying to figure out why when I put in an auxiliary tape and plug into my phone why it won't play music. All it does is rewind and fast forward and eject?
And ideas would be most acceptable.
Need help

Have a sound store install an aux cord right next to your cigarette lighter.

and then use your cassette player to hold your ipod...
The cassette player is wasted space make it useful.

Well I didn't wanna do after market stuff. Is there a way to fix the cassette player itself?

There is probably nothing wrong with your cars cassette player as it's rarely ever used these days.

Where did you buy or steal your aux cassette tape from?

Lol. I don't steel. I work very hard for my money.
But I purchased the top brand from Walmart. Can't remember it all I know it was black and orange accent colors and it was 20$ plus tax. Should I try a new one? Could it have been faulty. The problem I had was when I'd insert the cassette-it would rewind then fast forward then eject, never playing any music. P.s sorry for all the questions.

I have been lucky enough to not have had to troubleshoot my cassette player....yet. My CD/DVD player stopped working a couple years ago. Every once in a while I have to wiggle the cassette adapter a bit once inserted to fix a sound quality issue.

Make sure the cable coming out of the cassette adapter isn't causing the cassette to bind when inserted.
