04 TL subwoofer issue

Hi all, new here and not the most familiar with speakers so forgive me if this is dumb. The 2 copper wires on my sub woofer are contacting the metal surfaces around them and when this happens it makes the sub sound like it's blown, or not work at all. I have found I can reach in there and adjust them away and everything works normally, but will inevitably go back to having this issue. Can anyone recommend a fix for this? Has anyone else had this issue? Thank you.

What about tape or some barrier to prevent the wires from touching the metal surround? You might have to remove the sub to properly isolate it.

How about a dab of hot glue to force the wires into place?
