04 non nav to 08 nav install

I have a 04 base model and recently purchased 08 type s parts. I have the radio, lcd, dvd and complete dash. can i plug up the 08 dash harness to the 04? I know Martin sells the wire harness i need, which is plug and play. Im not sure what to do at this point since i already used a large part of the budget i had on the dash and harness (which was before i new of Martin). What are the pro and cons of installing the 08 harness into the 04? Or should i just go with the plug and play harness? Thanks.

If you can convert this, there are no "cons". But, it is a lot of work. I hope you get it done!

Handsfree connectors may be different

You may also want to acquire a new Bluetooth hansfree control module that is in the upper console where the front interior lamps are located. As far as I know they are different from 07 on.

Hold the phone...what is this talk of a wire harness? Are you referring to something that helps convert the wiring from a non-04 to an 04 (with the audio head unit)?

If this is the case, please give me any info you have on this. I recently changed out my head unit (the CD player died) with one from an 06, but of course my navigation doesn't talk anymore since Alpine changed the wiring after 2004's model. If there's something I can get to convert the wiring from one unit into the plugs that go into my TL, that would be INCREDIBLE and save me the headache of potentially ruining my wiring by doing it manually.
