ziebart?
Hi -
This question may have been asked before but when I tried to search today it would not display a page for me. My neighbor just bought a Hummer 2 and had it coated (under body and exterior) I think with Ziebart. It actually looks great. He said it is a new process (diamond protection) that will last for 3 years and never needs waxing. It helps prevent tar, water spots, swirls, tree sap, bugs, bird droppings etc. all he has to do is wipe it off with a wet cloth or water it off. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm considering a NBP TL and with all I hear about the upkeep with black this sounds like something to consider? It is guaranteed as well and you can have it re-applied after 3 years for a fraction of the cost. Any comments? Thanks!
(Future TL owner as soon as I decide on the darn color)

I seriously doubt any product that you would buy and have applied to a car would do much against tar, swirls, water spots, tree sap, etc... If he drives down a newly paved road, he's going to have to do more than just take a wet cloth and wipe off the side panels. Seeing would be believing but I not believing right now.

That stuff is crap. Costs too much. Your paint will get rough and since you don't wax it, you will just live with it. Get some good paint protection like Zaino, Blackfire, or NXT and do it yourself. Part of the fun with owning a nice car such as our TLs, is working on them. I actually enjoy cleaning it up, waxing it, changing the oil etc. Your paint will look great with any of the mentioned products.
DON'T GET ANY UNDERCOATING APPLIED!!!
You can actually VOID the factory rust warranty doing so. It plugs up drain holes etc.
IT IS NOT NEEDED. The factory undercoating is just fine. American cars may be different, I don't know. Maybe your neighbor's poser H2 Tahoe needed it. But your car doesn't. Go buy some decent wax, and have some fun this weekend.
