DD for me. I bought my 2006 TL 2 1/2 years ago with around 65K miles on it. Now, it's at 115k. I did the timing belt change earlier this year.

DD, 2005 5AT bought in November of 2014 with 92 000 km on it (57166 miles), now at 97 000 km, 60273 miles. Lots of mod stuff ready to go on, just waiting for fickle Canadian weather to make up its mind in Toronto

I'm curious to see this answer as well.

I'm at 165k now.

The interval is 7yr OR 105k, whichever comes first. Some people follow this. Others say just wait until you get that MID light again.

If it's less than 7yr and its close to 200k, then I'd probably do it just as safety/precaution.

I admit that I have too many cars and I really don't need any of them..haha.. My Z & TLS sit still most of the time covered & garaged. I Just started building up a 4runner. That's been my winter/summer vehicle & newest project. Sucks but I doubt I'll even pull the TL from storage insurance this year. I should sell the TL, but I really like looking at it.

^btw, that NSX above needs some modifications!! Haha

Yes. 2008 TL T-ype S purchased in November of last year. She is my only car. Sadly I have no place in the garage to park her and I live in the Chicago area so winter was kind of rough cleaning all the salt off every few days. The car wash got lots of money from me.

My TL is my daily driver now, this is it's second winter. It lived it's entire life in Houston Texas until I purchased it and moved back to WI. I raced the TL this winter and loved every minute of it.

Mines still a garage queen and would not be considered a daily driver, more like a weekly or monthly driver lol. All freshly detailed up she sits here at a whopping 15,900 miles. Throughout the winter and crummy weather days I drive my Grand Cherokee Overland which I have actually done a few mods to. I have this really strange problem that I can't get over in that I feel my "unicorn" manual Type S is too precious to be driven. Like after I detail it I don't want to even drive it. I want it to stay immaculate in the garage. So having multiple cars and one that does little to nothing except sit in the garage and look pretty is actually kind of starting to annoy me lol. Believe it or not I have an offer for the car for a couple thousand more than I paid for it a couple years ago. Sometimes I really ponder the idea. It's funny how that works as the car isn't even for sale and I never even listed it.

Haha, but you know if you take the offer...you'll just end up buying another TL-S! You may hold the record for most 3G TL-S's owned in a lifetime.

Oh yeah, and to contribute, yes, I daily my 07 Type S, Chicago winters and all. Currently on a 65 mile round trip commute, soon to be down to 50. But thanks to very low miles when I bought it and a short commute for the first few years, I'm only at 63k now.

Lol yeah I have little doubt that only car dealerships have owned more 3G Type S's than me. However, if I managed to part ways with this particular Type S that would be it for me with the 3G TL. As much as I love them, for me there would never be a replacement that could top a very low mileage MRP/Ebony 6mt Type S....and if there is show me because you damn right I would be interested hahaha
It's funny, my wife makes fun of me all the time. The other day infact she said "when did the TL become a rare collectors vehicle that you feel it necessary to pretend it's a Ferrari?" She's right, I have issues.

Looks like nobody has posted to this thread in years! I'm a new member here but have been lurking and learning for years. My wife's 06 base model has 238K on it. Drives like new, but the transmission is starting to show it's age. Shuddering between 2-3 shift.

Yesterday I bought a 2007 Type-S with 240K miles on it. It has some issues that I'll have to deal with, mostly oil leaks that I'm not sure where they are coming from. I think the tranny is contributing to vibration when driving, but it could be something as simple as a bent wheel. Still has plenty of power. It's a one owner car. When I asked if the timing belt had been changed, I got the deer in the headlights look. Guess I'll add that one to the list. Just did the timing belt on my 03 TL, have to do it on my 03 CL and my wife's 06 mentioned above!

I changed the timing belt on my 2nd Gen TL at 189K. It still looked new. I changed it again at 302K. This one looked good, but it didn't track straight on the pulleys. Ran from one edge to the other while the engine was running...

I don't know for certain that the Timing belt on the 07 -S I just bought hasn't been changed, just that the original owner couldn't tell me if it had or hadn't so I assumed that is hadn't been.

Yup, not only is my TL my daily driver, it is also my cross-country driver; this shot was just before embarking on a 7,500 mile trip from New England out to Colorado and back.

The car now has 160,000 on it and my annual mileage rate is just over 20,000 miles per year.

06 TL with around 180K miles was my daily driver until last May. I drive it once a week or so when my daughter is away at school. Just replaced a hood latch, door jamb switch and fuse that had the alarm locking it down. It probably needs some new tires next. I have a 16 BMW 328iX GT now and quite honestly the TL is better in some respects. The Germans apparently have no clue of how to make a decent HVAC system.

It was babied for its first 17 years, never run in the winter just parked in a garage. So when I got it the bottom and panels were pristine like from the factory, NO RUST despite Chinada using more salt than is in the ocean...
It came with the 6 disc changer failed... 6 mystery free discs that I tried to recover so I could start to use the changer, but the unit is probably bad like others' are. So I used the operation and the dash removal off as opportunity to install the Grom AUX unit, and to cut my own easy access panel to the interior cabin filter for replacing...
Also came with driver door seat settings flaky. Sometimes the module REMEMBERS the seating settings, sometimes it doesnt and erases them.

Added a Grom (digital audio link to ipod or android) to the XM plug behind head unit (we didnt have XM or XM option on Can. ones back in those days, but they used the same hardware and left the button off..it uses the DVD/cd button.) Love the audio quality bar none other connection like FM transmitter or BT, superior to those, but it flakes out too (prob limited memory cache that fills up when plugging in massive stores of music files, it doesnt dump them when I plug in a diff. USB unit and then freezes the entire centre console inc. a/c sometimes...)

Have the AngryDad's hack to access the various goodies thru the Nav unit.

The sunroof was almost failed, it BARELY opens or closes, so I closed it for good and try not to bump the button. I see a total interior strip down is part of the fix (read: broken clippets follow, old plastic will snap, loosened interior liner will flop around lose afterwards...) as a discouragement to even trying to find parts/fix the rails where the cog skips as it opens the glass...

Removed the BATTERY DRAINING HFL module that happens to be right inside the button controller for garage and sunroof, the battery doesnt get killed off overnite any more. Dont care or use bluetooth for cellphone only, and 04s dont do BT music protocols so screw that drain.

The DVD Nav unit in the trunk now fails but only for the Nav disc, not the AD Honda hack disk or the PCMCIA card slot usage (data for review in a PC). I may try a hack using PCMCIA slot some day if I find anyone has succeeded using it.

Had to replace the hood, rad, driver light and wheelwell liner after a deer humped my car at hwy speed last Boxing Day... merry friken Xmas ho ho ho bummer. After initial impact, his head spun around and took out ONLY the ext pass.side mirror... wierd. So thats replaced too. Hood was from a Royal Blue Pearl junker, looks almost black, but looks good so wont be painting it to the same silver satin of original paint.. kinda like it and it doesnt look kiche and amateurish, off color like that.

When doing the timing belt last summer, got the man to also do the assorted belt guides and water pump. First of two total engine block purge of antifreeze, thanks to deer hump months after this service.

New plugs as of late last summer, top end from Rock Auto. No noticeable mpg but did run smoother instantly noticeable. Old plugs werent bad at all! keeping them.

Used the mirror maintenance tips from this website and lubed both ext. mirrors back to silky operation, just in time for that deer to smash its antlers against on the way into the ditch...so lubed the junkyard replacement as well.

Clay barred the entire thing in 2020. You would be amazed what claybar can do for a well kept car with no rust... like new shiny slippery paint.

Did my own tranny drain/fill, did the partial and gradual repeat replace technique cuz I couldnt isolate where the tranny to radiator grid line was (magically spared during deer hump, same with the AC cooler thats on the face of the radiator!), havent noticed any tranny issues (was a good 20k sooner than manual said to change). Didnt change the filter though, heard conflicting from local mech friend and ppl on forums as to whether to disturb it or not. Might wait until next deer hump and tear down.
Also, was easy as stink using a cheapo funnel and tube from auto store that happened to have perfect dia. of tranny dipstick tube, that avoids needing to deal with the seized awkward tranny nut fill location. Dont have to take out parts to reach a nut to refill reflush it now, just pull the dipshit after draining it. Oil was nicely thin colored so thought the oil wasnt that contaminated, which helped me decide to leave the filter unchanged and undisturbed.

As of late, have had odd appearing/disappearing dash and ODCII indicators that Sensor position #1 was triggering. DOesnt mean the sensor is bad necessarily, means its reporting something is off. Given upstream systems seem fine and no sudden MPG probs, not sure next move. Is coming up to the 180k replace the manual says, but isnt the right fail indicator... rather fix what triggers it not replace it thinkig its the prob. Bank 2 is ugly location, hope not to have to O2 change out. It ssolved itself before I had a chance to check what to do, its done this once and alternates between both Sensor 1 positions from bank to bank and back over the last three years (One incident per year, changes over to other bank triggering same warning), then goes away asap so dunno... just keeping on.

Did my own brakes, front pads had some left back are fine so front only it is. EASY to do, saved tons cash.

Other than the obvious big drains its been a wonderful experience riding it. Def. a T for Touring and an L for Luxury car. It was made for 110 120kmph, floating down the hwy without effort. Great gas even at that speed, about 35 avg. US MPG after metric conversion. And in town combined avg around 27-29 mpg.
Slept in it at Coutts border supporting the Freedom Convoy this Feb., amazing how comfy it is reclined all the way back and a winter sleeping bag and duvet... just like old days when I was a young POS and a few decades younger and insaner.

Do 8000km oil changes myself.

Oh and forgot (lets keep abusive obnoxious offensive political responses out of this thanks) but thanks to the 'non essential human' designation early 2020, and the offer to return almost a year later under condition of total non private health records and taking the deathneedle, my final career in life is cut short a good 8 yrs early, so screw it Im early retired (and pure still). So IT USED TO BE my daily for last four years all year round. The previous 5 years it was daily only in summer, a Toyota Corrode-aw was the winter beater for the salt and chems we slap on up here.

Nice - I currently have 253k. It has a new alternator, starter, plugs and coils lol.

i did a quick work by replacing some hoses and all of the oem clamps that were pretty worn out.

This car has the ultimate reliability. I threw away the bluetooth module once it went bad and i have replaced my feature with the tesla touch screen.

Til this day people still admire my TL and its condition. I haven't even replaced the water pump yet which i'll do with timing belts as well.

If you do good maintenance on this car it will last forever. Heck my car runs way better than a lot of these newer cars out in the streets.

No transmission rebuild or anything like that.

06 TL MT 6 SPD
217,000 on the clock

I live in New england, the flocking winter treatment on the roads is tough on the ole girl.
Did some underbody rust repair to get it through inspection.

it runs very good. did the 105k maint around 207,000 and all good.
still a pleasure to drive, the sound system is awesome still, and i like it.
I fear the day i need to find another car I like with a manual tranny.... I love it when people with tiptronic say they have a manual. I say "Ok, Gen Z'er"
people with me when i park will say, yo, dude ,you didn't lock it; i said no need, i have a built-in anti theft device: a clutch

yeah my TLS still is used in daily driver capacity for the wife to take my son to school and back. it's primarily her car unless my car is down for some reason or another. the TLS eventually going to go to my son when he is old enough to drive to high school. i haven't decided on what i want to replace the Acura with as our "family" car.

at one point i was all in on a TT stinger until i started thinking about the new type-s...but wait there's also the new g80 sport that i like quite a bit. .. oh also the new g90 but daymn those are up there in price.

then i start looking at SUVs and specifically the new hybrid sequoia which looks amazing ...but what if i need an actual bed...hell i have no idea what i am going to get next

i do know what will be my next-next car after that is...c6 ZR1 (or maybe some sort of a c8 variant)
