Yet another battery drain thread
What's up everyone?!
Snow coming here to the NE and of course battery died last night. My 5 day out of state trip didn't help as my 08 sat in my driveway while I was gone. I just bought this TL, battery looks new and I know about the possibility of HFL battery drain issue. My question is: If the HFL was disconnected, would the HFL instrument display still say booting up? Or would it say something else? Wanted to ask before I do a tear down of the dome light area to try and disconnect. Other question is: If the HFL is disconnected, what other common culprits would cause a parasitic drain on our cars? Last question: I jump started her twice today. After the second time, the ABS and VSA dash lights stay on. Is that probably just a fuse issue or a sign of actual issues? I haven't scanned yet, but will after the storm. Thanks in advance! |
If HFL is disconnected, it will still say Booting Up in your MID.

Get the meter out and start pulling the fuses under the hood, then if it's the one that supplies power to the interior fuses, need to pull them. My problem:

If you have a stuck cassette adapter in tape player it will drain battery. But you should be able to hear a small motor running even with car off. |

Hmmm. I removed the HFL above the dome light and havent had any issues since....

It could be a battery on its way out. The HFL module definitely has to go. I've replaced mine myself and haven't had an issue since.
