Wow - watching your speed
Have had my TL now for a week, previously was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. The TL is so smooth that I was up to 90 today, following a Mercedes S55, I looked down and was at 90, quickly brought it down to 65, the S55 kept going. I was just amazed on how easy it is to speed. With my Pontiac you knew when you were going 70 very easily. Please understand, I usually do not go above 75, max 80 on highways with 65 mph posted speed limit, so don't flame me
So far the Michelins (sp?) are excellent. However, I did read they get worse with the miles you put on them. Just wanted to share my experience.

On sunday I was coming back from Chicago Motor Speedway after running 25 laps in an Andretti Indy Car School deal.
Imagine coming home in the TL after doing nearly 170 on an oval for 25 laps. I looked down and was doing 98 mph in the TL and couldnt believe it. I felt like I was doing 45.

Deceptive speed!
The TL is a great car, isn't it? Other cars let you know, through wind noise or engine revs generally, when you are driving over 75 or 80, but the TL doesn't. The TL's noise isolation and smooth road feel are deceptive, especially at freeway and higher speeds. The TL's acceleration ability does not exactly help in restraining the driver, either. TL makes me wish I had a commute longer than 3 miles each way!
I drive pretty defensively (OK, like a little old lady at 5 mph above speed limit, and never in the #1 lane when there is faster traffic). However, every so often a hole or gap develops in traffic and the speedometer needle is over on the right side while the cars in the rear-view mirror suddenly recede. . . . Thank goodness I live and work in West LA area, so that the crowded traffic generally keeps me below the speed limit and my license intact. The TL is also silver, apparently a color which seems to attract little police attention compared to black or dark-colored cars and SUVs.

the TL probably has a lot of noise reduction. it makes the car heavier, but the ride nicer. the drag on the TL is also VERY low, which is why you wont hear wind noise much. it kind of slides through the wind instead of breaking it.

Interesting regarding the drag, never thought of that, makes sense. Going to be hitting the NJ Turnpike tomorrow, definitely have to watch my speed, but we shall see. Going to get the Valentine 1 soon
