got my new C&D ... and wow that thing looks hot! it wasnt as "Bangle-ized" as the 5 or the 7 series. 0-60 in 5.6 sec, 1/4 mile in 14.3 secs. @ 98mph. i personally would hold on to my TL for 2-3 more years before i give in to the call of the "Ultimate Driving Machine".

i would not give up my TL...
over the next few months, i plan on doing quite a few modifications to the car, so it would be very VERY difficult for me to give up my TL...a lot of sentimental value you know lol
i checked the new 3-series out...it's not bad...however, i really like having "more buttons" inside the car around the dashboard...that's why I like the TL's interior...makes it look like an airplanes cockpit...
the new 3-series is a bad-ass car lol....if i have the money, then i might buy that while keeping the TL...

As long as I am still in the north east, I wil not do it. i plan on relocating to GA, I might consider it 2 or 3 years down the road. I have had my fill of snow and what not. I also want to see what mid-cycle changes they make to the BMW....I still like my car though.

I think they mess up on the new 3 series...especially the interior. I own a 2001 E46 and love it...when they changed out the headlights in 2002..loved it even less...one cool thing about the new 3 series tho is its has a HUD so you dont have took at a screen for navi.

Nope. I had my day with a Bimmer. Cramped inside, austere, underpowered, and a little dangerous, but very economical at 50 to 60 mpg. Come to think of it, I would like it back cuz it would probably be worth big bucks now.

That said I do like the new design and I'm sure it'll drive great.
But a compact sedan with only a 250 hp 6cyl ....costing $45,000 doesn't exactly make want to run and trade my Acura in. 5 years ago that would have been a 530 instead of 330 at that price.

One on the right for me
One of the first Car and Driver tests of the TL came right before an article looking at the 530 (yes its not a 3 but still....). They seriously questioned the Ultimate Driving Machine after driving the TL, and although I would take the new m3 in a heartbeat (trade of course) my friends 05 330 is a turn off, damaging the ultimate driving machine even further.

the new 3 series
the old man got the new car & driver (i think that is it) and they previewed/reviewed the redesigned 3 series. The look is SO SO but the 330 has 0-60 in 5.6 seconds!!! The one thing i thought i would would always have over the bmw drivers is acceleration (excluding m3/m5). Looks like that is about to change

lol... I would like to see what the other mags have to say.. I do not like to magazine race, but 5.6 times are tough to get on the tl. I have seen 5.6, 5.8, and 6.7 for a 5AT etc. I am sure we all want to go by the 5.6 time...

lol nope... just a fact of life and engineering.. the ultimate driving machine needs to keep us with acura and acura needs to keep up with it...
go out and get a mustang gt for 28 k and save 18K over the bmw..

As for the new e90. I read that article to. But they tested the e90 without the sports package and with smaller tires. They said the wheels spun or something . So the 0-60 time could go down even more!!

IMO it isn't only the power that makes new 3 series so appealing....it's the improved interior (btw E90 is as big as our TLs) and the array of features it offers for a price that will not be much bigger that old 3 series....hmm..makes me wonder..

wannabe tl
Guys,
BMW is mimiking the TL with this new car. They made it b/c their current 3 series has horrible integrity issues and breaks down often. They also created an automobile that looks strikingly similar to the TL. "The sincerest form of flattery" is that they are going after the TL. If the TL wasn't such a great car, BMW would have gone in another direction. They DO NOT underate the h.p. They give 2/1 advertising dollars to the major mags and they are usually 200-300 lbs lighter to comparable autos.
