Would you purchase another TL after this?
I got my TL when I was a senior in HS. I had had it now for about 5 years. It spent my 4 years at college with me and I have very few complaints about the car. And even the few I have are very minor. But what I want to know is how many of you would buy another TL whether it be this Gen of 4th?
I love this car and it has a lot of meaning to me because it was my first one but I can say that I would not buy another TL. At least not as my next car. I would not have to have the same thing again. Its nothing against the car its just the thrill of trying new things and experiencing something else. I also feel as though while Im still young I want to drive something more sporty. I have been thinking about what my next car will be. I will prob purchase a new car by summer of 2010. Right now my thoughts are:
BMW M3
Corvette Coupe
G37S - 2D
Anyone else in the same boat when it comes to not wanting the same thing over again.
This post was sparked by someone crashing their TL and having to buy a new car. He said he was going to wait until he could afford to buy another TL. If I totaled my car today, I would be out looking for different cars to buy.

I say try something different since you have had it for so long.
About the three cars you listed those are the ones you were possibly gonna buy NEW? Them are some expensive cars the Corvette would obviously be the fastest by far out of all of them. The new LS3 in the 08+ vettes is insane. My buddies 08 6spd ran 11.8 @ 122mph with just exhaust lol.
However I will say I like your taste in cars the three you listed are all amazing so you cant go wrong.

I would be buying them new. The G37 is the best priced but of the 3 I listed its the one id want least. I have always loved Corvettes and I love the looks they have now. But that new 2 door M3 is just so sexy!

At your age, assuming you could afford it, the Vette would make sense.
Me personally, I have a fast car already, I've been down the path of driving a fast car as a daily, and I'm over it. If the 3G was still being made, there's a very good chance I would buy another. It has everything I need plus it still looks very good. No 4g for me. Mine will be paid off soon. The new Camaro is looking tempting but I could only get it if I keep the TL since it has practically no back seat.

The only way I'd buy another TL, is if it was a brand new 3G with no miles... two doors, and RWD.
I'm in the same boat as you, I want something a little more "my age". I was (and still am) very lucky and appreciative to get the TL. Absolutely no mechanical complaints. I've had two dead batteries...
My next cars are very similar to yours: E46/92 M3, G37S, A5 2.0T, S2000, VW R20T, C5/C6 Vett. I'm not expecting to get any of these for at least another two years

I live in NY and it does snow a fair amount but when it snows now I dont even drive the TL for at least 2-3 days when roads are clear. I take my moms GS 300 or my dads M35 cause they both have AWD and handle so much better. So if I had the RWD sports care type it would just get garaged or left out but not touched for days when it snowed.

MY KBP IS BTR THN URS...
You could say this is my 3rd 3gen tl
I had a 2005 tl 6 speed
I had a 2007 Type-S, Sold it bought a brand new 2009 toyota 4 runner, put 1000 miles on it and went and bought my Type-S back.
Yes at a loss.
If I wrecked this one I would get an 08 Type-S
WE ARE JUST EXTREMLY HAPPY WITH OUR ACURA AND ACURA'S SERVICE...

Acura Service is the biggest downfall for me. When I was at school I got EXCEPTIONAL care from Acura of Auburn in Mass. But now that I am done with school and living back on long island I have to deal with Acura of Valley Stream and they have never been anything better than mediocre.

i just bought my second 3G tl a little over a month ago. the TL has everything i need/want in a car with little worries here and there. if i were in your shoes and wanted to get a 2dr, and living in NY, it would between the m3 and the G37.

Firstly, out of the 3 cars you listed, I would only consider M3 or Vett, but the Z06 version, but 1st place would go to the M3. To me the car is a bit more than just performance, if all i wanted was speed, I'd get a 1991 CRX, drop a new engine pull a turbo from a SemiTruck and TADAAA i'm going fast.
To answer your question; if my car was totaled, I would only buy a car that's similar to mine. Criterias would be: Silver or white exterior, Ebony/Silver interior, manual transmission, with or without aspec bodykit.
I really enjoy driving my car, but I have not owned it for years like you have abd I can certainly understand the excitement of a 'new' car.
If you live in snow covered areas, sure the 4G TL with AWD might work, I personally wouldn't buy it, but that's another story.

Eww S2000, first of all the original poster is a male and he didnt mention anything about getting a girls car. I believe he was talking about a LS3 C6 vette, new M3, and a G37 S coupe (all of which are bad ass).

oh yeah, for sure man! i hear you...but personally, i wouldn't have a problem with purchasing and owning another TL. i've had quite a few problems, but in the end, i just can't away from the design of the car. another car would be nice, but when you factor in my age and insurance costs, the TL just doesn't look so bad a 6mt would be nice...

Go for the M3, great on the track, and powerful.
Two cars that I've been looking at lately are the M3 and the C63 AMG. C63 is faster in a straight line, but the M3 trounces it at the track and real life driving. I don't really like Vettes unless its a ZR1, but its your opinion. I ended up choosing the M3 as it has several performance options more than the C63 and its a fucking BIMMER!

If I totaled my Type S, I would find another one-for sure. Absolutely, positively-NO 4G !!!! It's either the 3G Type S or a Lamborghini.

If something bad did happen, I think I'd opt for something newer, but it wouldn't be a TL. However if I had a chance to do it all over again, i'd still buy my TL!
Car's to consider:
If younger/sporty:
G37
3 series
More refined:
RL
M35/45
5 series
Big and sporty (if you can afford it)
7 series
A8

but we all know that aint happening so my next car would have to be an 2009 Acura RL, Lexus LS 450

honestly i would not buy another 3g or any other acura for that matter if i had to do it again. I only really loved the 3g tl from the line up, and now that im beginning to see lose its "exclusivity" where i live (yes even you type-s people who think your type-s is the shit) i dont think ill get a newer tl. As for my next car im leaning towards an xkr, but i also have the e550 coupe and S5 in mind.

iTrader: (6)
lol... all knocking the 4G come drive one , you'll change your mind
I had an 06 TL, 08 TL-S, and now an 09 TL SH-AWD.... my ex had a 04 TSX, and my wifey now has an 03 CL-S
I Love Acuras.... the ONLY car i would have gotten instead, is a 335i or M3
But ya know what, on Long Island.... EVERYBODY has a 335i... and a lot of people are getting e92 M3... so its not that special
If i had a few more bucks.... I would probably land myself in an M3 Sedan, S5 or IS-F...
However, all those cars are about 2x the price....

If my current 07 TL got totaled or stolen, I would replace it with either another 07/08 TL but a Type-S, or a used 05-07 RL.
I choose the TL simply because it is a beautiful car, I loved it so much that I traded in my MiniCooper ( a special car to me because it was the first one I got to choose because I paid for it 100%). The TL won me over because it had the perfect road comfort that I wanted. The mini, as is most BMWs with sport suspensions, was too harsh a ride.
The 07-08 TL design with the subtle upgrades from the 06 really tipped the boat to go back to Honda. The major reason to go Type-S for me is because of the better brakes, though I don't want a harsher ride. My base model brakes just doesn't have enough mmph to it. I don't really need more horsepower, so if it doesn't cost too much money to upgrade the base model's brakes to the type-s setup, i would be all for the base model.
Lastly, if a really good deal on a pre-owned RL comes up, I would take the RL. As more time passes I find the 05-08 RL looking better and better. I've always liked the car and never thought of it as an old man's car- it has a conservative/humble design yet a commanding stance for a relatively smaller flagship car. AWD would be a welcome treat as would bigger brakes and overall a bigger interior capacity. Curiously, I found the cockpit and periphery of the RL driver's seat to be more conforming and taseful than the TL, which was hard to believe since the 04-07 TL won many accolades for just the interior alone. IMO the RL is much more elegant than an M3 or Infiniti, but that's just me. If I were to choose between ego luxury and intelligent luxury, i would choose intelligent luxury through the used RL. Being cool is overrated, being smart wins in the end.
And If you don't want to go used, you could consider the 09RL seeing that it is about the price range of the M3(but perhaps change the grill to japan's design). Not to mention that any RL is more rare than a dime a dozen, and certainly a diamond in the rough!

Knowing how Iam with cars I wouldn't buy another TL if I got rid of my current one. There are too many other cars out there that I would want to drive and own. Although I can get bored with car pretty easily, but due to the TL looking great and having awesome performance, I will keep it as long as possible.
