Windshield Replacement - Insurance Companies
Hey guys,
I have read some threads where people say their insurance covered the cost of replacing the windshield without a deductible or for $100. Can these people list their insurance companies here... I'm in the market for a new insurance company and would love some input!
Thanks...

Ive never had a to have my window replaced but I will tell you that my insurance company has to be the best insurance company in the world. I have USAA and I havent had a complaint yet. Good customer service and their price cant be beat by noone. I pay 119 a month for full coverage with 250 deductible plus I have comprehensive on two other cars a 94 accord and a 94 integra plus a motorcycle and Im only 24 plus my record isnt the greatest one totaled car licensed suspended twice and about 9 speeding tickets. This is all since I started driving last speeding ticket was like a year and half ago. Most of them was when i was younger. One more thing i just recieved a check for 111 dollars for being a customer. Every year you get some money back from them for being a good driver. Thats it sorry for the long reply. Good luck. STAY AWAY FROM GEICO!!!

Most insurance companies *can* include replacement windsheilds under comprehensive. You just need to make sure it's written/included in your policy.
As you get your quotes, if you need this, make sure it's included. If it's not, have them add it and see it price changes enough to matter.

Thanks for the info but this is what the website said when I tried to get a quote:
Membership is open to:
Children of USAA members.
Active-duty officers and enlisted personnel.
National Guard and Selected Reserve officers and enlisted personnel.
Officer candidates in commissioning programs(Academy, ROTC, OCS/OTS).
Recently retired or separated military personnel.
Former USAA members who had auto or property insurance.
Did you qualify or did you find a way around it?

jmcbnd,
Yeah, USAA is only for military members and their dependants. I pretty sure that it's Florida state law that requires insurance companies to include windshield replacement for no additional charge.

All of my policies with State Farm have "comprehensive with glass". This means that I have my standard comprehensive with a deductible that meets my needs but with full glass replacement at no deductible. For Colorado winters with sand and gravel on the snowy roads, you need a new windshield about every 3 to 4 years. I believe the cost of this coverage is about $5 per year which makes it a great investment.

Geico Insurane
I have Geico, and they replaced my windshield that I complained about regarding sand blasting. My windshield was pitted after about 2 years, and I said I wanted it replaced. I live in CT. I believe it is required for full glass coverage here. Regardless, Geico replaced it, no questions asked, I requested OEM glass and it was taken care of by a reputable local shop. All it takes is for you to give your insurance company a call and see if they'll honor a replacement. Just be sure you insist on an OEM windshield.

Geico here, I am in NY, I pay $200 a month with full glass and rental coverage (added the rental after got hit by a some lady cop in the left quarter panel)
I replaced my windshield once, no questions asked they just need you to phone it in and give the, info and they fax everything over to the shop, usually shops take a couple of hours to get the glass from a dealership or a private seller somewhere local good luck

I live in Arizona and have American Family Insurance. I pay an extra $3 a month to have the FREE replacement service. No deductible, no anything! I actually had mine replaced today.
