That sucks Ty. As others have said, take it as a lesson learned. What are you looking at as a replacement?

I usually drive granny style, but I'll admit I've made mistakes like taking turns too hard...usually when I'm annoyed at other drivers...I'm glad everything is ok with you...hope you hop back in a TL/TypeS cuz you def have a good taste in mods.

I have been trying to scour the web for a MT Type-S, but no luck. I think my best bet is to get something new but most new cars don't offer MT. I've never owned German cars and I hear they're pretty expensive to upkeep after the warranty runs out. So, that leaves my choices very limited to Japanese or Korean brands.

Surprisingly, this was not as unsettling as when I had first seen my car after it had been broken into at my old place.

Damn that sucks man.

Looks like you were moving along at 80mph or so according to the photo. I wonder how fast the police officer thought you were going.

I'm glad you were able to come out of this crash alive!!!

Also importantly it really sounds like you've learned your lesson.

Thank you for making this post to remind us that racing and other boneheaded antics on the road are just not worth the risk to our lives!

Well today I watched 3 episodes of 48 hours of hard evidence on TLC, and they kept talking about the investigations and such, so i just felt compelled to investigate your situation here.

It appears you were traveling east bound on Perimeter Summit Pkwy. You were probably on the right side of the road. The section where you lost control of your TL is uphill, which means for you to jump a median such as the one on that pkwy, you would have to be traveling between 80 and 100mph.

The nature of that road is similar to one we have here in Charlotte, and for me to imagine jumping a median like that, I would have to be doubling the speed limit.

I'm glad you're ok.

I think a good clay and high quality polish will fix that right up.

I could've kept it to myself and decided not to post this but I did to be a reminder to myself and to others.

As much as I like the interior, the exterior still hasn't sold me. I'm waiting for the 5G to be out.

I'll see what insurance has to say. If I can get some of the parts, I'd like to transfer them to another 3G. The passenger side headlight was having condensation issues when it would rain and I was trying to find time to get that resolved. Doesn't look like that'll happen.

Thanks! Our cars are built really well and I'd gladly get in another 3G again.

Wow dude, that is a very good analysis! Your investigation is pretty spot on. I guess you can always be a CSI if the NASA thing doesn't work out.

Very glad you're ok. The TL really came through for you. You should try autotrader to look for your new TL-S if you're willing to travel. We've ALL raced at one point in our lives, I know I've had and thinking back on it now, was VERY suicidal. Luckily im too old for that now. But seriously all jokes aside, glad you're ok and the TL just keeps proving that it's a great, safe car.

I would have to strongly disagree. In fact, I'd say very, very few TL owners have raced another car on a narrow, winding, tree lined parkway with curbs and no shoulders, where the posted speed limit is likely 35-40 mph.

Regardless, maybe you guys missed the first post where OP stated: "Bring on the flame as I deserve it." ?

^^^ i know what you mean dude...

but if i were alone on the street, I would have been pushing harder as there is no one around and gotten into a lot more trouble....my ex-girl lived up a winding road and boy I used to "tear that street up" when it was empty.....

lucky me, I have fish-tailed on several occasions but gotten lucky to counter steer it back....

OP, it takes balls to admit your mistake and I guess you do have them...I bet you will be happy in your next car as well...TL-s 6MT ?

Thanks dude. We've all had that urge to go faster than we normally do. When you play with fire, sometimes you get burned.

And yes, I'm really looking into a 6MT Type-S. Looks like TLDude876 came through.

Since i'm probably categorized as one of these dicks I'll just respond with this:

Not everyone feels the need to speed (ha). Maybe it's cause I'm coming from a forum (G2IC) that does not allow discussion on the matter at all. My friend asked if I wanted to go to the Angeles Crest Hwy. I straight up told him I'd just like to cruise if we did. No stupid canyon racing shit. I see the TL as a badass cruising car.

Maybe it's because I worked and saved up money by myself until I was comfortable putting a down payment on my TL. I owe my parents 3.4k. After that, it's completely mine (paying approx 15k out of my own pocket). That's money I cant afford to just wreck.

Maybe it's because I know I cant afford a ticket, accident, etc. since it's essentially throwing money away.

I've honestly never street raced in my life. Is this abnormal behavior for a 23 year old?

To the OP: if I was harsh, it was intentional. But good luck on your next car and I hope you treasure your next car like your baby. It's a car too good for street racing.

Funny ting is, I've been debating whether to get the WRX STI 5 door or stick with the UA7 search.

I had expected to be some disagreement since I had posted this on a public forum. If I didn't want to draw attention, I would've kept quiet and just let a few of my friends know about the mishap. One good thing about it is that the car had already been paid off.

This car was my baby and I just lost sight for a brief moment of joy . . . just like masturbation.

wow thats awful man. sorry to hear that happened to you. only thing to hope for is that you make better decisions and one day learn to pass up a race in exchange for not getting a ticket/totalling your whip.

what did you tell insurance?

and all the people calling you dumbass have probably done dumbass things in the past but dont have the balls to publicize it. one time i near totalled my best friends mothers 2010 a4, ended up costing 6 g's to fix.

Anyways we all learn from these things, some of us just need that wake up call. hope you make better decisions in the future.

Dude, Delete this thread and never speak of racing in reference to this again. If insurance googles around about this accident and finds this you are not going to be covered, and will be dropped. Seriously. Do it.

I've never street raced, If I want to go fast I'll pay the 10-15 bucks and go to the track and race there, never have raced on the street never will and put others and myself in danger, I have way to much to lose I've had friends die/ go to prison for street racing.

That sucks. Sorry about the car. I suspect that you have learned your lesson already and it is a painful one. Just don't do it again.

And I call dibs on your rear side markers.

I told them a tree came out of nowhere and struck my car.

Not sure. Someone wants to rebuild my car as a salvage so I won't be able to take anything out.
