I bought my '04 NBP about 3-4 months ago, and when i first got it it looked polished and reflective, then after i took it in for service a few times there are swirl marks all over it because of the wash (they are the only people who have washed it). what are the chances they will remove the swirl marks and re-detail it to how it was when I first bought it? have they done this free for anyone?

Umm no, they will actually introduce more swirls and holograms into your paint. Go to a professional detailer and they will give your baby a nice treatment. Where you live? I may be able to get you some contact info
edit: Always decline the "free" car wash as they do more hurt than good to your car

anything but a soft cloth will scratch the surface- and can usually be buffed back out
See the Off Topic section- Wash and Wax, for more than you really want to know!

jeez how hard it is for a dealer to invest in cloths that don't scratch the cars they wash...what are they washing them with anyway.. balled up newspaper?

They usually use a long handled brush from what I've seen. Always tell them "DO NOT WASH". BTW, in 3-4 months, you've never handwashed your car yourself? NBP is the wrong color for you.

I doubt it. They may take a look at it, but Id save your money. Many dealerships have kids in their detail departments that dont really know what they are doing. And if the dealer does do anything they'll more than likely just hide the imperfections temporarily. It'll look good for a little while, but they'll come back.

it's best that you STAY AWAY from those "free" car washes from the dealerships, let alone from other places...
sorry guy...but don't worry, a lot of us are in the same boat as you...we're all paying for it, as am i! but i get my car back from the body shop on monday...freshly repainted!!!
good luck man
you could always try taking them out yourself, but just a cleaner wax and the polish that crap out!

Take it back to the dealer. They'll replace those swirl marks with holograms and burn it with a buffer.

Yeah if you go through a car wash, make sure its a touchless. You can never beat the good'ole hand wash though. The dealers typically use an automatic washer with rotating brushes that cause this problem.

After owning a 05 NBP and taking care or the finish very carefully, I could see swirl marks after some months. Never went to a carwash, didn't allow the dealer to use buffer applied paint guard at purchase and always used microfiber towels when washing or drying. If swirl marks bother you, change colors.
I've been much happier with white cars, they don't even show bird shit. Seriously black really shows swirls despite the best posssible care.

A moderate size Acura dealer will have ONE PERSON who knows what they are doing and usually manages the Get Ready department.... prepping cars for the showroom and for delivery. They know their way around a buffer. Then there are 2-3 stoned clowns who work for him. If you bitch to the GM that they messed up your finish, and you can get the head guy to do it, they can probably fix it for you.
I'm well into my 4th year with NBP and NO SWIRL MARKS. I keep it clean and use the right materials and techniques. I don't even like to drive NEAR an automated car wash. No one has ever touched it except me.
I make the dealer write with RED marker on the face of my Repair Order "DO NOT WASH". I have only been back to the dealer once..... the day before the warranty ran out for a thorough check up.
Go to the Wash and Wax forum for details on the right materials and techniques. Yes, NBP is the hardest to maintain but it's also the most beautiful.
