Will 17x7" +40 offset rims fit?
Hi Guys,
I will be taking delivery of my TL in mid-May and am wondering if my ASA EM9 17x7 +40 offset rims will fit on the new car. The bolt pattern is 114.3x5 which I believe is the same as the TLs. I got these rims from Tirerack.com just last year for my 97 Camry LE V6 which I will use as a trade in. The rims are wrapped with Yokohama ES100 tires...the same ones recommended by Acura. They are 225/45 17s which will cause a +1.6% speedo error.
I guess fitment is the biggest issue and safety is right up there as well. Assuming that the load ratings for the tires are identical, does anyone thing that it is unsafe to use the ASA rims and Yokos on the TL since the factory ones are 17x8s with 235s? Thanks so much.

Thanks for the info, Skee! I just would hate to throw my money away for rims that are still so new.
Does anyone know of any safety concerns of going down 10mm in tire width. I would think that it's OK but I have been known to be wrong Thanks!

The only think I can think of is load rating of the tires, but if they were carrying a Camry, they'll carry a TL.
You may try selling them on EBay or local car circular. If you unload those along with the OEM wheels, you should have enough money to buy new custom wheels with perfect fitment.

Skee,
Thanks for all the info again. The only way to tell is to try them once I get the car. I like the ASA EM9s since they look very much like the BBS rims you see on the VWs. Sorta sports sedanish...a la TL. I will consider selling them like you suggested. Come to think of it the Acura 18" rims look mighty fine too....ah the possibilities
Thanks, dsc888
