I cant understand this at all.
I set the heat to warm up the floor area from the Mode button.
But yet it blows on top aswell? Really frustrating.

My '88 Accord had that feature.

an Acura has-been
Yes, I noticed that some time ago, and checked the owners manual, it shows that when in the HEAT ONLY mode, that it STILL blows air out the two SIDE vents.
The only way I can think to stop this, is that you must individually close the two outside vents using the dial next to them.
Kind of lame that you have to do that manually, especially since the fan turns on before the heat comes up and blows cold air on your left hand and face.
Poor design, is this a honda thing, as I have not seen it on other cars?

Top?
If you talk about the vent underneath your windshield, it could be normal.
If you set only "floor", it will blow a little from there.
If "floor/windshield", it will have "middle" blow.
If "windshield", it will have full power of blow out of those vents.
All cars should be the same. I guess.
Or you talked about something else...

If you are in pure floor mode (stickman with arrow at his feet) then there should be NO air coming out of the CENTER face vents. You should have air coming out of the side-window deffogers (they're right above the the side face vents, aimed at the window), be glad these are there otherwise you would be driving with fogged up windows.
You should also have a small bleed coming out of the side face vents. This side face bleed strategy is very common and is implemented on GM and Toyota vehicles also, it's not only a Honda thing. Some people refer to this feature as the "hand warmer", try taking your glove off and placing your hand next to the vent.
I will admit that the bleed on the TL seems a little excesive in high blower, I only run in Auto mode so it hardly ever reaches high blower.

the air should still come out the side vents a little though

The side vents operate independently (manually) by design.
The TL side vents operate exactly like my 1995 Acura Legend and my 1998 Acura RL. They are manually controlled so that you can blow hot air on your hands in the winter, or close off your air conditioner vent in the summer.

I have the same question.
I have the stick-man with the arrow set to blow on the feet. There's A LOT of air blowing out of the windshield vent - something's not right...

It's right... the floor-only mode has this blow from the Windshield vent, too. This is to prevent the fog into your windows...

I doesn't bother me at all. I'm happy the window doesn't fog. In fact I've never had a problem with the window fogging. I'm pretty happy about that.
