Why do they keep trying to race me?

Mazda 3 and Honda Civic owners try to race me constantly. Especially Mazda 3. What is this all about? I mean seriously, without mods these cars are strictly commuter cars. An 07 tl-s is way more powerful. Does anyone else notice this?

Maybe they're just trying to get you to waste gas.

If I see a car next to me that I think wants to race, I never give them any indication that I want to play along. They can do whatever they want when the light turns green, I'm not going to play. Doing so would suggest that I care what they think about my car's performance.. I don't.

I agree. I've learned long ago how to put my ego on a shelf. My racing days are way over. It's just kind of annoying.

A stock MazdaSpeed 3 could more than hold its own against the TL with a 263HP turbo engine.

I just look at them like if i'm going to/ when light turn green i let them drive off. But this one time i was on my way to JFK airport and this guy on a Audi 8 kept flishing his hi beam. SO i moved out the way and he move behind me and flashed again. SO I HAD TO OPEN MY VTEC. he didnt catch up becuase is was a curvy road. i guess his not as good of a driver But that was the only time I promise.

I don't bother racing on streets, those few blocks of exhilaration is not worth a hefty ticket.

If I see a douche ricer going around everyone and cutting everyone one off, and he is about to do it to me, I just pressed the gas leaving him scratching his head...that's it.

Safety first.

The riced out civics/legends are very popular in NYC, and all of them think they are driving a supercharged supra....I just can't define the logic of putting 10-20K of mods in to a 1k car. Looks crappy, feels crappy, hey, but it's fast....Congrats! lol

I get that crap a lot from the old matchbox Jettas and older 3-series. Never anything worthy of the V-Tech. Only once did a CTS-V tempt me but I knew better.

Jersey is pretty bad as well........I even had an older gentlemen (he had grey hair) with a maxima pull up next to me and revved the engine a couple of times to get me to race...I guess he wanted a little Adrenaline rush on his way to the office.......so I gave him what he wanted a good start from the light, but then I let him go..... Safety First....don't need any tickets or crashes

I've noticed it too.

Especially after I debadged the decklid.

It's like I hung Flashing Sign back there that says "Let Race!!".

Execpt for the one or two truely obnoxious ones, I ignore 'em. But I think I'm liking the "egg them on, then leave them hanging" strategies.

Ok, I've got to jump in here for a second, I've raced a few cars that I was surprised to have beaten, 1 was a Porsche Boxster (I had to, she was hot), a riced out Subaru WRX, and a beauitiful 69 Camaro that sounded great. I didn't win or lose against the Camaro, we were neck and neck the whole time. I've got a stock 07TL-S 5AT

This strategy works great, especially when there is a cop near by, which they don't see.

I will egg them on, the moment they peel out a cop pulls them over, I've done that twice, lol.

It's considered reckless driving to peel out on a green light.

I just don't see a point of racing on city streets, simply because I don't trust the other drivers.

Regular Boxsters are slow... WRX has a lot of balls, they can keep up.

69 Camaro? This thing will eat a TLS. I don't play with such American RWD muscle

You could tell it was a small block, sitting behind it, you could smell the fuel so it was running rich, but it sounded great, and I know he went home afterwards pretty upset that this beauitiful 4 door kept up with his weekend driver.

LOL the SI Exp sux donkey b*lls.
All those slo ass mofos in the left lane cuz they know the Goethals exit is on the left, but they don't know that you can also exit from the middle. They need to open up that HOV lane to 75+mph drivers.

That HOV lane, when they opened it at first I thought it was a smart idea, until it became Buses Only....wtf!? And the tolls are going up.

One of the top 3 reasons I moved from there to here.

I was at a breaking point, ready to snap, sitting in that senseless traffic everyday. Not only that, but having to take a train or a bus after sitting in traffic for over an hour. Fk that.

It's not messed up, it teaches them to stop trying to race anything that moves on the street.

Maybe the more tickets they will get, maybe they will start to realize that drag racing belongs on a track or on a safe empty road.

Besides, real racers, pay attention to their surroundings, I look all around me before I hit the gas...so its their fault.

I can't say that I remember any ricers trying to race me in San Antonio TX. Firstly it's mostly highway driving. Secondly pickups and SUVs are king here. Those folks know that they'd be eating dust every time.

Case in point, on my way home today on the Belt Pkwy, all I could think was "Please don't hit me with your $2,000 Celica"
Why do you need to cut in and out in rush hour traffic?
I still beat him to the same exit driving normally,
Then he has the balls to cut me off to make a turn. Are you such a f*tard, this is NYC, do you even think someone may be psycho and do something to you cuz you're driving like a tard?

I find I've gotten harrassed to race a lot more since I installed the Greddy exhaust. In my case, it's usually A4s, maximas, and sometime sentra Spec-V or VI or whatever. A4s and maximas have a good amount of pop, but they are too heavy. When I 1st got the TL, I smoked an A4 on the LIE one night and then watched NYHP pull him over behind and I took off and got off at the next exit. After that, I just mostly let people go now. I was really getting pissed a few weeks ago at an older sentra SE-R that kept messing with me on the Southern State Pkwy. I was getting ready to get in dat a$$ when he shifted gears next to me and I heard what sounded like a blow-off valve . I figured I still might have been able to take him, but I probably would have had to push like 130 to do it, so I let him go... I got kids, man... not worth it....

Quick Reply: Why do they keep trying to race me?
