Why bother washing your car?

Because you can be sure after you do a bird will take a dump on it, it will rain or your neighbors will get their lawn mowers & blower machines out and kick up a kansas dust storm. What I waste of time for me this morning. I have 2 neighbors right now with their blowers blasting & my car is completely covered with dirt.

uhm because its easier to clean up a single instance of birdshit...or you can choose the latter.... a mixture of the longest hardest nastiest crustiest dustiest shit you ever had to clean off your car once you finally clean it

What color is your car? I used to have a black civic and bought one of those dusters (bought it in Mexico, but I'm sure they sell them here too), I think I saw some somewhere they're called California duster...something like that. Anyway, The same Sh!t would happen to me, or if not the pollen, AFTER i would spend an hour or two washing and detailing it. But when that would happen I'd just bust out the duster and BAM, like it never happened. It works well cause it has some kinda oil in the fibers that really grabs the dust particles.

what about mounting a paintball sentry gun on top of the car. That'll keep the birds away!

might as well put a scarecrow.

anyways, why do you shower everyday? why do laundry? same reasons, because life is about doing things over and over. if everything stayed perfect....then life wouldnt be very interesting would it?

Everytime I wash my car or take it thru the car wash its filthy if I go ANYWHERE.
Frustrating. And my car is silver ! More than anythig I get frustrated by my Type S wheels. The brake dust makes the wheels look almost black after a few drives. *sigh

I hear ya OP. Down here, we are plagued with 'love bugs'. As soon as I'm done washing the car, get on the road the windshield and front bumper are covered. It sucks.

because you like to take care of the things you own. Yes it's going to get dirty and going to need work; but isn't everything else going to require the same?

Your neighbors are cutting their lawns and blowing the sidewalks clean, why though? Well because they are taking care of their property and making it look nice. For that reason you should walk over there and smack them for blowing it into your property and onto your car. Tell them to blow it back onto their lawn in the future and not into the storm drains.

Invest in a bra for the bug season ... we have river moths up here .. all they are is wings and glue and a killer to get off paint. So I run the bra for the couple weeks and 303 the hell out of the bra and it makes them come off easy.

i hear the birds chirping and plotting all the time...in addition to the friggin' pollen/sap from the trees...hence i have a car cover...nice a clean. i agree, spot treating is easy. sap and the neighbors blowing crap all over the car...ugh...i'll go and take the blower and smack upside the head with it!

to answer the question (title of the thread), its the challenge of it. its so much easier to not give a care in the world about the car getting dirty, on the flip side its so much harder to keep it clean and looking good. so, b/c we love our cars so much and we have pride in our rides...we wash it.

Ya the pollen was brutal this year in CT. I've got one of those California Dusters and it is quik and easy.
It's been raining here all week. Actually washed the TL twice yesterday and what's it do rains in the afternoon.
Never ending battle.

Car getting dirty after a car wash isn't worth crying over. That's why I have the unlimited touch-less car wash pass . Also if you polish your car along with waxing it after the car wash. You'll make it easier on yourself when you go to clean later. Because then bird poo-poo, dust, dirt, ect on a waxed surface will come right off with detail spray & microfiber towels.

Not to bash on you or anything, just adding in my .

you don't want a california duster on NBP. I was crazy to use it on Blaze Orange on my last car.

and I'm fairly certain my car washing schedule is what is actually dictating the weather around here.

bird poo is really the only thing that bothers me..dust and what not is whatever since they dont do immediate damage to the paint.

got like 3-4 bird poo etch marks on my roof, one on my hood. I really dislike birds.

OP, just move to upstate NY. It's rained something like 55 out of the last 60 days here, so the dust and bird shit washes right off. I spent $200 bucks on a detail last week and then drove home in a monsoon. Car looked good for five minutes or so.

Nothing is worse than having a freshly cleaned NBP and realizing you can never drive it because every damn person in Texas has a screwed up sprinkler system pointing at the road.
