Wheels still move
Yes, I asked the where to jack question some time ago. I have a related question - I was always under the impression (this goes back to a history of RWD cars only) if I was going to remove all 4 wheels - the front two I always had to loosen before lifting the car - otherwise they would spin making it much harder to loosen.
How come when I put the TL on 4 jack stands - the FRONT tires were still able to spin - even though I was in Park? Isn' this impossible? No, my car does not roll down the driveway in Park without E-brake on.
Was it just a fluke, or was it not fully enagaged in Park or something? Or has too much 2nd hand exposure to my son's Wiggles CD finally rotted my brain and I am hallucinating?
Thanks guys

I've had that problem on every car I've ever owned. Sometimes it would happen on the rear wheels, as well. I simply wedge a brick under the down side so it catches as it tries to spin, holding it in place.

Hey MODS, I was thinking this was more of a possible tranny problem type question - nothing to do with tires or rims etc. - did not mean to post in wrong place. Sorry.

If the car has any form of a diffy, which it does, the wheels are not locked when in park, they just cant both spin in the same direction at the same time. If the other one isnt spin while one is, maybe its some different type of differential. But I am willing to bet that if you get one person on the otherside and try to spin the wheels the same direction at the same time it aint happening.

Thanks. I take auto class at school, but I learn more from spike TV. If it doesnt roll when in park that is the only answer that would make sense. I am assuming my first guess, that the other wheel will go the other way is correct, but it is possible they set it up so instead of the other wheel turning the other way, it simply wouldnt turn, but that is highly unlikely, and I have never heard of that being used.
