OP let me make it more clear for you.

04-06 TL power 270 hp for 2004, 258 hp for 05-06 do to change procedure how measuring HP according to SAE standard. No actual change in engine out put.

04-06 TL Base (no Navi) - Available with 5spd AT or 6spd MT.

04-06 TL Navi (hint the name) - Available with AT or MT.

MT: has front Brembo 4 pistons brake, superior sway bar and suspension setting than AT TL.

AT has regular single piston brake.

Optional: summer tires.

Dealer add on: A-spec package (four sides under body spoiler AKA ground effect kit) with/or A-spec rims and special steering wheel, suspension, spoiler.

If the car is a real A-spec it will have A-spec badge and blue stitching steering wheels, lips kit and rims along with other goodies

Note: 2006 TL receive TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System).

07-08 TL has minor changes with few upgrades.

07-08 TL Type S

*Navi with back up camera and Brembo brake is STANDARD on every Type S and no option except for A-spec package and summer tires.

If you don't travel out of state often, then you won't need the navi unit. I had an '05 non-tech version prior to my S and having the navi during certain times I had to go to places I wasn't familiar with would've helped since street signages aren't lit up at night. All in all, if you have a smartphone or Garmin/TomTom, the mapping software on it is probably more precise.

You can't go wrong with the 3G TL, as you mentioned. Welcome!
If you look hard, you can find some pretty good ballbusters on this site too (don't worry, they'll find you with threads like this...) but take it with a grain of salt and you'll have a new family on here.

Best car forum site I've ever seen or been a part of...

Aspec suspensions are different based on the yr and model of the TL due to weight differences.

i believe now there are only 2-3 kits available: base AT, base MT, type-s. it seems acura has consolidated the suspension kits vs before they had them for the 04-06 AT and MT, then the 07-08 AT and 07-08 type-s AT and MT (at least from what i can remember).

hey jerrad was in the same position as you. my old DD crapped out hard, so I was driving a rental while looking for replacements. I am a bimmer guy, but after driving the TL I was sold. Ended up buying an 04 last weekend and am very satisfied with my purchase. Hopefully you'll do the same!

Good luck with your purchase! And this is a good forum, lots of helpful members and interesting threads.

Welcome!

My parents bought the 3g TL back in 04 and I've been in love with the TL ever since.
At the last car show I was in, a lot of people commented on how great the 3Gs still look today even compared to the 4Gs.

It's a smooth blend of sport and sedan, and you really can't go wrong with whichever model you choose.
Good luck in your search!

I think you'll want the navi, everyone that i know (myself & husband included) wouldn't have it any other way. When i was shopping for mine i was on the fence ab that option and ended up getting it. Then my husband drove it once & knew he had to have it. Yes, a good Tom Tom or smartphone is usually more accurate but the screen makes everything else more convenient (cd player, calendar, etc.). Plus it makes the interior alot easier on the eyes. The non-navi just looks like its missing something so much to the point that there are many ppl on here who ended up adding it after the fact to complete the look (and it costs more to do it that way.)

I wish I had navi, but don't care that I don't . If that makes any sense...i agree with MisAlly...it does look purdy for the other functions of the car.
